Gentilly Sling. Like the classic Singapore Sling except reduced pineapple juice, and addition of half and half or cream, then the whole thing is shaken vigorously. We like it a lot better than the Singapore Sling.
Tonight, L'Huere Verte! The absinthe ritual. Absinthe is Grune Fee, a rather strong one at 130 proof, very flavorful. Minimal loche due to the high alcohol content. That's okay. Goes down great, nice glow.
Old Overholt Rye. America’s oldest continuously produced whisky. ‘Doc’ Holliday liked it. U.S. Grant liked it. The Situational Shaver likes it.
This is a trip down memory lane. A good one, mind you! Once upon a time, in my myriad of jobs, I worked in an ABC (State of NC Alcoholic Beverage Control) store.
It's a great rye. I go back and forth between it and Sazerac which is a johnnie come lately but reasonably priced and pretty good, a bit less bitey than the O.H. Tonight's cocktail was rye and soda, tall glass, orange wedge.
