It's an Italian balm, you can use it as a pre shave or aftershave, it has quite a lot of menthol in it, very good stuff.

Thanks, Joe. I am getting there. I have to treat it like a shavette without the benefit of the geometry.

Thanks, Jason. The "shake 'n bake" lathering technique is too goofy for me...not to mention, it produced less than stellar results.

Fine shave this morning, with the feature being the opener of my Stoylin in-shower bodywash, to set the tone. It certainly does make a difference compared to those of Dial, Nivea, and Gillette. Fresher skin. Anyway, just as in the other day, I thought I was headed for a top-ranked shave, but then a cut happened. It's controlled now, but the thing just wouldn't go away during the shave. My brush loaded real well, easily could have done 3 passes, but I decided to leave it at 2,given the cut. Clean nice shave all around. Most Excellent.

When is Mayhem no longer mayhem?
Answer: When you are getting comfortable using the mayhem tool.
SMN is a very thick, sticky cream, which borders on a croap.
Yet it is not firm enough to load directly from the very large (7oz) tub.
So this morning, I took a finger full and went to smear it on my face.
My face was wet so the product would not adhere; it was simply too slick.
Dried my kisser off and was then able to get the product from finger to skin.
    VERY sticky.
The soaked CH3; well shaken-out and using 100% paintbrush strokes, went to work.
First I was able to get the product basically smeared all over my shave-area.
Then I began the dipping of the bristle-tips into the water.
Soap is flying everywhere; lather is slowly developing.
Eventually, I gave in and did a modicum of scrubbing.
    That did it. :)
I don't like scrubbing with this or my CH2, as it's simply not good for the knot.
But once I got the lather begun, paintbrush strokes were effective and the lather
became just what I had hoped for: luscious, creamy and slick.
With the Light Brigade properly seated, I started pass one WTG.
Light, short strokes are the key to this razor. No willy-nilly shaving.
Two passes and my face is very smooth.
No weepers, irritation or blood. :happy088:

Marvelous mayhem mowing Maestro! I agree that scrubbing may damage some knots so lately I have been pretending to be Bob Ross while lathering. That's difficult to do for this follically challenged shaver.
