    The Shave
The plan: 3 pass shave (WTG, XTG, and ATG).

The Reality: 3 pass shave (WTG, WTG, XTG/ATG). Two strokes into the 1st pass I could tell that these blades demonstrated my least favorite sharpness characteristic--sharp enough to cut skin, but not sharp enough to easily cut through hair. All three chin passes were tough.

By pass three, I was able to start moving ATG on my cheeks and neck, but probably should have just stuck to the cheeks. ATG along my neck, the blade would either cut nothing, or at the slightest cant, start to dig. A couple times it did dig. Very slow and steady there got it done, but the wise thing would have been another WTG.

I got a DFS on the cheeks and much of the neck, and CCS along the goat zone, but it was a hard fought battle--once again, the Vi-Johns held the high ground. I can get a decent shave with these blades, but it’s enough work to take the joy out of the process.

Only 2 blades left in Paul, the blade box of mystery! Both of them are Gillettes-- a Ruby, and a 7 O’clock yellow. I have high hopes for both.

You all made it to Friday--enjoy the rest of it, and enjoy your weekend as well :D

    74 down, 26 to go!

Sorry the shave wasn't better. On the bright side you eliminated another blade from future consideration.

That is a very generous way of putting it ;)

I may have missed a post somewhere, but why are folks laboring under the impression that I'm trying to squeeze 100 straight shaves out of a single hone? Seems to me it would be like shaving with Patrick's butterknife--minus the GEM blade :happy102:
