I think Slash sells them as well.

Honestly, though, if I muck up an edge, it'll probably have to just be down-time for the straight until I can figure out how to bring it back to life. This is a fun hobby, but we've got our funds ear-marked for things other than sharp stuff--if it turns out that I can't realistically keep up with a straight, I've still got shavettes to get me through until such time as I can. And I'm fine with that. I'll get there eventually ;)
Looking forward to seeing that one--so shiny! :D

Thanks, Joe--they most certainly did. 3 passes, and I only fell to the floor in the fetal position and wept twice. I'm the kind of guy that rises to the occasion--twice ;)

Out of curiosity, does the 30 micron stuff remove too much at a time for your taste, or is it that you can still get it done with 15 and a little patience?

Yes, I forgot that Slash does sell them.

To set a bevel, if you use a stone, then the grit should be somewhere between 1200 to 1800. The 30 micron is equiv to 1200 micron and 15 micron is equivalent to 1800. My chip or chips are not that big to go below 15 microns in my estimation. Generally, you err on the side of higher grit because you don't want to take off more steel than necessary.

MAYhem SIX plus 1 bladed shave.

    20200521_110227-1.jpeg

Before finding the traditional shaving methods I love and use today, the Gillette Mach3 ruled, because the 'Powers That Be' always said 'much mo betta' to make sure the cash register kept ringing big. I thought the Mach3 was substandard to the original Atra so I never upgraded further. Besides I was getting low on arms and legs at the checkout counter.

Interest in the rise of 'shave clubs' ultimately lead me to traditional wetshaving.

A coworker and I were discussing hair removal devices and agreed to a swap. I loaned him an injector and a DE and he brought me the 6 bladed Dollar Shave Club offering he likes. While I am a usually a daily open edge face shaver and he a weekly head and lower neck shaver we thought an exchange test would be fun.

I cautiously did a one pass WTG shave knowing that and ATG work would be met with objection from my skin.

I found what I considered a quick, one pass Socially Acceptable Shave with a tool and blades I believed to be superior to anything I can remember using recently from the cartridge world.

In the spirit of the 30DC methods, I'll extend my evaluation and work on improving my shaves for the duration of the cart, but probably add 1 ATG pass with a shavette for a nice finish.

If I was air traveling these days with carry-on luggage, I might be able to find a place for this gear. Pricing is certainly more favorable than most other options.

Just not good enough overall for me to bale out on my other stuff. .

Love it when the 'kamisoried' Feather comes out! The Proraso Wood & Spice sounds fantastic. I think Gary got some Proraso by the bag as well :D

    Nicely done, Bill.
I had a five blade Fusion if I remember correctly. Haven't touched it since I got my first DE. I'm sure my shaves would be much better with it now using what I've learned over the last 2 1/2 years.

Immediately into drainpipes if I recall correctly ;)

I decanted about 1/2 of mine into my right nostril and left eye when I first got it home--I've since discovered that a glass bottle is far more efficacious.

Makes sense to me. Are you planning on bringing the blade across glass to start the process, or do you just start honing?

Awesome photo and report, Bill! :D

Strange. 7 or 8 years ago I was terrified when I first picked up an EJ DE89. Now I don't think I could bring myself to use a 6 blade cart anywhere near my goat-zone. It was always a problem with my lips. If I wasn't crazy careful (it's super hard to be accurate with a 6 blade cart), I would blister up around my lips. That razor you are wielding is scarier to me than most of the MAYhem gear I've seen this month. I do wonder, however, if a 30 day focus would have brought me better results.
