The solution is an easy one, Paul. One soap...everyday...until it's gone. Most of us in this hobby prefer variety, myself included. A few times a year, I like to challenge myself to use up one product.

South Beach (Miami, FL, US of A) clubs threw "foam parties" in the late nineties and early oughts. I do like the 48, because after a shave, it's possible to either de grease the engine block in my truck or throw a disco foam party. And still have leftover lather....

I did a year of "Love it or Lose it"

After growing a ridiculous inventory of gear, I did a series of Foci and if I didn't love the gear... I gave it away to newbies or sold it.

Razor collecting is a valid hobby, but not for me. I really enjoy the simple pleasure of shaving well with limited gear.

My soap collection was stupid.... but you know... Harmless fun.

The alkali nature of true soap also makes keratin brittle and easier to break cleanly with a blade bevel.

i often wonder how many folks that buy a new merkur razor use the supplied blade or toss it in favor of their favorite.i can imagine some saying "what a crap razor"
