It’s clear to me why this Supply razor is so popular. First off is it’s adjustability via the three plates. Secondly, the industrial design of the razor is visually beautiful and the weight is perfect. I understand the alloy version is a bit lighter, but still much heavier than most vintage razors. But thirdly, and most importantly, it just works. The shave angle is intuitive making it a joy to shave with. Any experienced wet shaver can pick up this razor and be shaving with it almost immediately. If you check the threads about this razor, most of the discussion from users relates to blade and blade type. Please don’t take offense, those of you out there with a particular blade preference, but I own a variety of vintage injectors. After cycling through the the ‘Chicks’ (Chinese Schicks), Pella (relabeled Personnas, Personnas, Twinjectors, ‘74s’, vintage whatevers, and Japanese Schick B-20 Proline, I settled on Proline blades which happened to be the same blades I enjoyed with my AC razors. That is until I discovered Feather Supers. The only issue these blades suffer from is longevity. I’ve had up to 28 shaves with an AC Proline blade before it begins to tug. My AC Feather Supers never lasted more than 4 or 5 shaves at best. With my Proline Injectors I’ve had up to 15 shaves on a single blade before it started looking tea stained. The jury is still out on the modified Feather Super in my Supply razor. Today was my second shave on the cut-down Feather Super AC blade. All went swimmingly well.

My 26mm Boar knot finally arrived two days ago from China. I cleaned it up, epoxied it to the ferrule and then attached it to the Alpha Shaving Tribute brush handle. Despite soaking it in conditioner, it still was relatively ‘Scritchy’. That should smooth out with continued use. After enjoying Nancy Boy shaving cream and AS Gel for the last week or so, I selected Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite Soap and AS Splash, a very pleasantly mentholated combination. Three drops of M-Bomb brought the soap to the appropriate level of mentholation. After my preparatory Cold water rinse, the shave began. I enjoy face and dome lathering a great deal with Boar brushes, but not with a new knot. Bowl lathering worked well with the new knot which did demonstrate the expected ‘scritchiness’ of a new Boar knot on my shave surfaces. The lather proved to be nicely thick, shiny and yogurty in texture, although not as slick as the Nancy Boy lathers. The shave, as mentioned earlier, was spectacular with the exception of the soap not measuring up to its predecessor in the slickness dept. Two slow pleasant passes (WTG, ATG) transformed your humble narrator from ‘Sammy Stubble’ to ‘Velveteen Greene’ as this excellent safety razor once again delivered me to VBBS land. I feel cool, clean, velveteen smooth and refreshed.

I hope you guys are all doing well. It has been a busy, but productive week. We have more significant milestones ahead of us next week. The first couple of photos (and comments for each) in the album link I posed earlier have details if you are interested. A few of you have checked in and have deposited comments and photos, and we really appreciate that.

I have enjoyed four Minnesota Nice shaves with my birth year Slim, my 30 DC LE brush, and Tabac soap (the manly stuff). Post-shaves 'round these parts have to be unscented, so I'm using either Stirling Unscented Body Lotion and/or USB. I also brought a puck of Mike's Hungarian Lavender that will eventually get used here.

The weather here in Rochester has been wonderful. We had a slight hint of humidity on Tuesday. We had goosebumps, but the locals were sweltering.

Mayo Clinic is staffed with some of the most knowledgeable and kind medical professionals that we've ever met. We are truly blessed and humbled to be here. Many of the businesses are still closed, but the downtown area still has plenty to see. We try to get out for a several walks a day. We decided to order Italian takeout tomorrow. This will be our first restaurant meal since March 11. We are celebrating a transplant "victory" with some new friends we made here, so that will be fun. And, yes, we have ice cream in the freezer.

Face masks, hand sanitizer, hand washing, and social distancing is a thing here. We don't wear face masks in our room, but they are required most everywhere else. We initially had some reservations about making the trip during the pandemic, but it's actually a relief to be out again. We are learning that the precautions we'll need to take in the coming weeks will be even more stringent for awhile.

I'll jump back in a little more often after the next couple of weeks. Until then, you might see me peeking around the corner and sneaking a cookie every so often.

good morning gents,this is the razor my grandad could of had during the war.brit service set.a little different than the standard flat bottom tech.the gillette logo and made in brit is below the pins on the base plate,a different safety bar pattern as well as a thinner cap.hollow fluted handle came with these only as well.this set took a long time to find and was the holy grail razor and reason for my brit razor collecting.fine shaver to boot,loaded with a 7 oclock blue.the semogue 830 built an awesome vintage williams lather,rich and slick,though i haven't dialed this soap in yet.first use since i mentholated it using the GD Carrington method.2+ smooth passes for a near bbs.decanted pinaud whiskey woods aftershave to finish..yes, that is a vintage woodbury bottle.awesome.have a great day everyone..

Finally - a day with no clouds, rain, wind, murder hornets or sodomy geese. Just a nice day in the Lou and I made the best of it. Hustled my butt off to make my money for the day then came home to a good dinner and an excellent shave. Everytime I use the Wunderbar I find myself thinking I could make it my daily driver. Then my love of vintage Gillettes kicks in and I realize I just can't leave them out of rotation. The Sharp Star was still as sharp as when it was unwrapped and everything was smooth with no blood or irritation. Two passes to a BBS and I'm ready to roll into Saturday! Have a great weekend.

Happy Saturday everyone. The remaining soap was scooting around the bottom of the container making loading impossible. I scooped the soap out and pressed into the ridges of my bowl and started to whip a lather. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near BBS shave. The B&M Rum soap is dead and gone. What a lovely way to start the day. I will have 1 day of May to go. Going to put shave number 25 on the FHS blade. Even though it's fading, It's still shaving well. Stropping the VAS works. I may keep the blade and go for 30, but I am eager to shave with some new hardware.

The Scrape Steel Razor looks pathetic but its extremely sharp and handles well. I had been worried about the temper, but the edge is holding up so far. It gave me a 3 pass DFS shave. I could have gone for more but I like being irritation-free.

We cut the basic shape for my son's knife and realized we need a bevel jig to really do a good job. So that project is waiting on some angle iron. My razors are also on hold just until things settle down a bit at work. Grinding on the CNC is involved, but I am determined to make it work.

The Shave
Late shave report today. Once again, the Semogue boar whipped me up a perfect lather. No ice today. Even with the Frost Drops, the lather feels warm going on (even on the 2nd and 3rd passes), and I only feel the menthol upon rinsing. A Frost Drop in the AS made sure it ended chilly, though.

3 passes--WTG, XTG, ATG. The shave was almost a repeat of yesterday with the exception of a small weeper on the side of my neck. So small, in fact, that it slunk away long before the shave ended to go wherever it is small weepers flee. I'm somewhere between BBS and DFS (CCS on the southern pole of the chin because I just didn’t feel the need to touch up this late in the game). Very pleased.

This will be our first restaurant meal since March 11. We are celebrating a transplant "victory" with some new friends we made here, so that will be fun. And, yes, we have ice cream in the freezer.

Face masks, hand sanitizer, hand washing, and social distancing is a thing here. We don't wear face masks in our room, but they are required most everywhere else. We initially had some reservations about making the trip during the pandemic, but it's actually a relief to be out again. We are learning that the precautions we'll need to take in the coming weeks will be even more stringent for awhile.

I'll jump back in a little more often after the next couple of weeks. Until then, you might see me peeking around the corner and sneaking a cookie every so often.

Chubby 2 and Zingari Man Shave Soap....wowzers. Very nice lather today, a mix of bowl and face lathering, with tons of volume, cushion, density, wonderful forward barbershop fragrance. Definitely one of the top soaps in my world for ease of sliding a straight razor over skin. Great in between pass face feel, plenty of slick for follow up buffing or touch up. Frigga easily swiped 48 hours of growth in 3 passes, XTG, XTG, ATG. No shenanigans, just BBS smooth skin. Followed with Zingari Man ASB, a light milky balm/lotion in appearance, not too greasy, quickly absorbed. Finished off with a new aftershave (trial size) of Floid Black.
