Today's 'basic' razor is this prewar Tech. According to advertisements you could buy this razor for 79 cents in 1938. Considering a Sheraton was $2.48 and an Aristocrat was $5, this was the razor for the masses.
Whipped up a nice lather. I do load longer with these Zenith boars than I would with Omegas for sure, they are just a much softer bristle that takes a little more time. It did shed 2 more hairs today that were definitely of the 'broken off' variety.
    Nothing major.
I had 3 easy, pleasant passes. I'm not completely smooth but I'm not very far from it. I'm looking forward to using this razor a few more times this month as part of a 'basic' razor focus.
    Have a great day all!

Great shave, Tim! A good teacher’s work is never done. I worked as a part-time adjunct Professor for 27 yrs at a local university. I do empathize! Although I’m also glad I’m retired. Just don’t have that level of energy anymore.

I just looked on the Meehan website. Wow, that is some expensive juice. I'd expect it to be the best. :)

Thank you Gary, how are you? I'm leaning toward getting the Heartwood A.S.(Bill Neumann&Co.). but I'd have to get a very excellent unscented soap for the setup. Maybe I'll get the 1/2 lb. Neumann soap itself. Apparently, the soap is pretty flat, but a reviewer wrote that he could still get good lather with each shave. DECISIONS!!!!
