    Blade Hess #1
    Brush Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic
Soap + Splash + Balm Wholly Kaw “Denarius”

This razor is suspiciously similar to a DublDuck Goldedge, which is one of my top-5 best shaving razors. This Hess was in worse condition as acquired; perhaps affecting performance negatively. I do think the Hess steel is harder than the Goldedge so it’s possible some further honing might improve the edge. We shall see: I’m sure to update in the long term once I put a few more miles on each razor.

Despite the forecast, today it's sunny, but I had to try a soap, so... no
    olfactory/meteorological coherence.

The photo is how Guillaumin would have shot it, not on purpose though.

The only problem is, he doesn’t shave! He’s got a big burly beard, he’s a mountain man.

  14. Today was one of those strange days. The moon was visible in the sky all day, and even I don’t have a shave
for that ‘situation’! It wasn’t extremely humid, but there was still some humidity.
But, my face felt a little ‘tight’, but it was still too humid for a glycerin A.S. So, that’s when I reach for
the propylene glycol. Add a short handled boar brush to get some exfoliation. This is the shave:
    Shave Secret P.S.O.
    Arko stick soap
    Semogue 1460 boar brush
    Merkur 37c HD
    Feather blade
Dickinson’s witch hazel ( as always)
    Stephan’s Lilac
For a 1 pass work shave, I find nothing gets closer than the heavy duty slant, especially with a sharp blade.
The Stephan’s Lilac is a ‘pure’ lilac, no ‘veg’ to it. A little sweeter and more ‘flowery’ less chlorophyll .
Stephan’s doesn’t seem to get much love, but their line is nice. Their Island Lime was great. Wish they still made it.
Boar brush, and glycol, perfect for the ‘situation’.

    Williams Wednesday's Shave
    zcws.jpg

    Cold Water Rinse
    Williams Mug Soap
    Jayaruh #340 Badger
    AutoStrop VB1
    GEM Blue Star SE
    CWR
    Cella ASB

The Williams Mug Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #340 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the AutoStrop VB1 with a GEM Blue Star SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  16. Wednesday morning’s Grand Freeze:

    Neutrogena Men Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Derby day 5
Bundubeard African Potato X 3 SS
    Prep ASB
    Osage Rub AS Splash
    Bleu de Chanel EdP

Jaco really created a winner when he made this African Potato soap - it has everything going for it. A beautiful earthy scent, the lather is so rich, thick, as well as super slick, and the X 3 means that it’s mega frigid like his Kameelperd’s Kick soap and the Stirling Glacials. The skincare of this soap is also terrific. The Prep gave me lots of extra postshave care along with a good chill, and the Osage Rub, or as I nicknamed it the Rubby Dubby Doo froze me even more. Three passes gave me a brilliant BBS shave!

    Be safe and healthy!
