Noble Otter Wednesday: (June 3, 2020)

    Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts B9A
    Razor: Gillette English Aristocrat Jr.
    Blade: Gillette Platinum (10)
Lather: Noble Otter the Noir et Vanille
    Post Shave: B&M Reserve Waves
    Frag: Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache

The Gillette AJ is a lovely razor - a little more aggressive (blade feel) than the flat bottom tech but man oh man is it a smooth razor. I really enjoyed it and think it gives a closer shave than the Tech. The handle on this one makes for a nice, nimble razor. Paired with great NO products, this was a fine shave.

Razor - 1959 (E3) Gillette Flare Tip Superspeed
    Blade - [IMG]
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

It was a dark and stormy night. (Thumbs up to whoever can tell me the origin of that line) Nothing severe, just lightning, thunder, some rain. Normal late Spring stuff around. Nice to have it after a hot day, though. And, nice to get another shave from the Superspeed and Astra SP. I switched to Tabac tonight, even though it's not Tuesday or Thursday. Tabac is another "high end" soap I consider to be a basic necessity in my den. Wouldn't consider myself a traditional shaver without it. The Semogue 620 is the small boar that makes a bucket load of lather.

Three passes and the Astra is still as smooth and sharp as ever. Finished up BBS an the alum was quiet again. That's the thing about the Gillette Superspeed. It does one thing, and it does it well. Hope you had a great hump day and here's to a fantastic rest of your week!

So I was diagnosed with UC in dec 2000. I was 18. In 2008 I became immune to the medicine for it and went into a flair up that lasted just over a year. I'm 5'8" and with that flair up I went from 160 down to 113 lbs. I still cant look at pics of me from that time. I looked like I had one foot in the grave. In 2009 the ulcers spread to 98 percent of my large intestine and I had to have the whole large intestine removed. I had a colostomy bag. My now ex wife at the time completely tore me down about having the bag. I was told I am disgusting and repulsive and no one would ever want to even touch me because of it. I was told this and so much more along the same lines every day for the next 5 years while I still tried to fix the relationship. But the damage was done. Even to this day I still deal with the disgust humiliation and degradation of this disease. I do have a woman I am with now who has been trying to undo the brainwashing my ex instilled in me. In 2017 I had a bowel obstruction that caused some necrosis of the small intestine. To fix that presented me with the opportunity to get the j-pouch surgery. So i did. And in dec 2018 the pouch was removed. Now i find out i also have IBSD so now I'm back to where i was before getting the pouch in the first place. And all of the brainwashing has flooded back. I am doing everything I can to fix this and get some sort of normalcy but it is just taking time. Thank you all for the kind words. The last couple of years have been a rollercoaster of just shit. Had 6 surgeries 3 life threatening, my brother was killed by a kid texting and driving a mustang at about 120mph. Then 5 months later my nephew has an asthma attack and passes away. Those two were in 2018. Last november my adopted father passed away from liver failure. He never could handle loosing his son. He drank himself to death. While all of this is going on I am fighting to help my girl get free of her alcohol addiction which in less than a week she makes 11 months sober.

Someone complained that it was raining here today and that, being without an umbrella, he got wet.

But the most gruesome thing is that they talked about umbrellas as if they were tools to shelter from the rain!
And, as a result, they are often compared to raincoats, trench coats, Mac's...
    - An umbrella repairs better than a raincoat-
That's true, but what's that got to do with it?
The gentleman doesn't wear an umbrella to shelter from the rain. He wears it to waggle it while walking
It also helps to stop, nonchalantly, a taxi: does anyone really think that the taxi would stop if he waved a raincoat?
    Shipwrecker's stuff...

    What if it rains?
It doesn't matter. When it rains, the gentleman doesn't go out!

    But he shaves!
With an elegantly fragrant soap, which makes the blade slide with ease and leaves the skin smooth, ready to welcome an equally elegant eau de toilette.

My shaving today? Excellent! It allowed me to bring out fragrances that I thought I should leave unused until today's weather has become the norm and not an exception!

    It was raining.
    I got wet.
    I was without an umbrella...

Perfect day for the sound of Chet Baker...

The Proraso Sandalwood Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #340 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the AutoStrop VB1 with a GEM Blue Star SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella ASB.
