Walmart specializes in this, as well as "the one time" stocking routine. As in, "we stocked that once and we don't no more." So you find a product you like and that you want to purchase again but they stop carrying it.

The end result is that you scour the freaking store looking for a misplaced item, only to find out the stupid store stopped stocking it.

    and bacon. don't forget bacon.

what part of ND are you in? I spent a week in Jamestown a couple months back. We drove up as far as the Spirit Lake Nation (youth mission trip work) and as far south as Oakes (also mission related).

Yeah, that pisses me off, too. The local Wal-Mart just underwent a remodel, too. And nothing is where it used to be.

I think I'm done with them. I'll drive 20 miles to go to Kroger thank you. Heck I'll probably make up for the time spent driving with the time saved knowing where the stuff I need is.

Bacon :drool....I didn't buy any, but I still have some quiche left.

Here is what happened here. We got a confirmed case of MRSA at the high school and a confirmed case of H1N1 at one of the elementary school. Any kid that had symptoms of either was then rubber stamped with the disease label. At least we are no longer on the crazy quarantine the building for 10 days plan. But it is odd coming in after the industrial cleaning crews make an overnight building sanitation.

JoAnna, I hate the crazy stores. it is a pain in the neck to find things and about the time you get used to them... they change again.

Wife's blood sugar has been typically 180s to 200. Things are rough for the picky eater/ chocolate/pizza/ice cream aholic.

Oh, I meant to comment on JoAnna's Doritos gripe....well, mine's actually sort of a cheer, but only because they've brought back Black Pepper Jack Doritos, they're awesomestestest! but back when they stopping stocking it I was doing the same griping.

I do understand the idea behind frequent rearranges at stores like Wal-Mart, both the good arguments and the nefarious ones, but I agree I'd rather be able to go through and get what I need quickly

Yeah, they had those Doritos. Didn't sound good.

I don't care what their arguments for moving stuff around or putting things were they don't belong. Shopping is not enjoyable and even less so when they want to play games with their customers. Oh, to increase sales...or whatever.

One more gripe for Wal-Mart. The new plain jane non-descript packaging. Every product looks the same! The worst I've noticed so far was when I went to buy sour cream. It's located next to the cottage cheese. Not only is the packaging identical. Someone had intermingled the 2 products. One stack had a couple cottage cheese and a couple sour cream in it. Oh, I'd have been pissed if I hadn't been looking.

Today, I bought Ricotta Cheese. I had to look at it real close. It's the only Wal-Mart brand product that isn't in the new style packaging yet. I told myself, well maybe they just had a ton of these style tubs left in the warehouse. That's what I told myself anyway.

yeah, they probably haven't finished their supply of the old design tubs.

and I agree with the plain packaging...I like the idea of simplistic plain packaging, stop trying to compete with the "name" brand....BUT DON'T MAKE IT ALL LOOK THE ELFIN' SAME!!!!!!

yeah... I can see that. I get the idea of saving money on packaging, but did they really need to package things in a way that screams cheap or broke?

can you imagine (or, I guess, remember) shopping in the old days when everything was in plain packaging?

Yeah, it coincided with the remodel here, which was mostly cosmetic. Didn't even put in self-checkout lanes.

And seemed real stupid. Save money here, but we have money to waste on an ugly, ugly unneeded remodel.
I remember some store brands in the late 80s, early 90s being plain.

I like simple packaging. Hype not needed.

You aren't missing much... the lines at the self-check out lanes is usually just as long as the regular lanes, if there is a problem or glitch, you have to wait for an employee with the proper clearance to fix it, and if you need anything weighed... forget it.

okay, that was just pretty cool...had my hands full, some crackers and sprite for my boy, and this fly just kept flying around (hence its name, I reckon), I got frustrated and decided to shoo it with my foot, but did a normal front snap kick anyway, and the fly went flying into the wall, and fell to the floor dead....oh yeah, got my Chuck Norris on tonight!

yeah, I typically skip the self-checkout lanes, only exception when one is clear, I have 1-2 items, and gotta get out of there...I know, the whole impetus for the things in the first place, but you'll still have your "buggy-full" people going in them.
Personally, I'd prefer to, I don't know, make the employees do what they're paid to do!
    :D
plus, I feel I'm doing my small part of keeping people in jobs by keeping them busy and not letting the stores make me work for them for free by checking myself out.

If flies didn't have wings, would they be called walks?

dunno....but they'd definitely be easier to catch with chopsticks, Daniel-san!

I almost always go self check-out. And I've even taken the time to teach someone else how to use it before.

The good thing is one cashier = 4 or more registers.
    :happy096
That's me. :D But I can check myself out faster than some of those people with one or two items.

Got behind a guy with 2 bananas, nothing else, the other day. He had to ask the attendant how to ring it up.
