Thank you Jim! I should have taken a picture of this razor with its humongous gap. To be honest, I am not very handy so I didn't think I had the wherewithal to get the chip out. I really had to think it through as to how to attack and solve the problem because I didn't have any experience to do it. Even if I don't get this razor shave ready, it is already a win for me because I know how to take big chips out of a razor. Who knows? One day, I might buy junk razors, restore them and sell for a profit. To be honest, that would be a miracle. I am happy just to be able to maintain my razors. Again, I appreciate your words of encouragement.

That's awesome, Joe! Hopefully you can get that Joe Elliot Trigger-approved sharp (just like the Dovo Special :D

As to the polishing: good choice! When you've got significant spine wear, I say embrace the rugged, comforting, well-worn charm of a razor that has seen a shave or two, but has no intention of going gentle into that good night :D

    The Shave
Okay, not really a basic shave (or if it is, it’s pushing the envelope towards the Mid-range shave), but after close to a week of 5 am shaves where I was either too lazy or too rushed to walk to the freezer to grab some ice, I felt it was time for some pampering.

The Semogue boar whipped up perhaps one of the greatest things to come out of last month’s Mixed Up May for me--a one part Iced Pineapple to two parts Glastonbury lather--and the Lupo started whittling away at the facial hair.

Standard 3 pass shave (WTG/XTG/ATG), but Sundays are chase days, so touch ups, buffing and chasing were all a go. If I’m chasing, the light weight of the aluminum Lupo leaves me with 2 options to get there: I can either increase the pressure to stick to a 3 pass shave with minor touch ups, or keep it light but add another half pass and more touch ups and buffing. I chose the latter, and it paid off--plate glass window smooth and not even an inkling of irritation--he shoots; he scooooooores!

I got all suited up for church at home, and was sporting what has become my favorite traditional-style tie knot--much thanks to Jason @jtspartan for getting me hep to the St. Andrew knot.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday the best way you know how! :D
