TGIF: It is hot here so I added a few drops of M-bomb to the CK-6 bases and a nice chill for the shave. This Revisor 6/8 is a pimp stick for sure and worthy of a TGIF shave. The edge feels like it needs to visit the pasted strops but is still sharp enough to deliver an acceptable shave. Splash some Proraso and a couple spritzes of L'Air de Desert Marocain and I am out the door.
Lol! Thanks Andrew! Excluding the Joseph Elliot restoration project, I have 13 straights and 5 have been homed within the past year. The remaining 8 are still good that I won't need to hone them for quite a while. The Mad Max and my Wolstenholm near wedge will be honed by Max Specher and Jon Seitz respectively.
Yes it was Gary. Its comforting to see it rain knowing the roof is not leaking . Slowly but surely the house will come back to its former glory.
Thanks Keith! I have always read the SS straights are harder to hone because the steel is harder. However, stainless steel straights hold their edge much longer than carbon steel ones.
Wonderful gear there Keith! The C mon is a real beauty. I should recreate on in wood . Love the AS bottle too. Very different.
Excellent job honing the razor Joe. now the razor is as sharp as it looks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you Clint! In the 20 months of straight shaving, I am at the point where I can get good shaves with a decent edge, but now I know the difference between a good edge and a great edge. My Dovo Special (first straight) was honed by the master Lynn Abrams and at the time I didn't appreciate how grand that edge was until I had different shave ready straights. Although I had a good edge when I honed the Dovo Special last yr, it eventually scratched me a few times that I checked the edge and saw the cause so that I recently redid the edge from scratch. My new edge on the Dovo Special was my standard and the Friodur now has a similar edge. When I get an effortless, smooth shave, then I know that my edge is top notch.
very cool Joe.now you have a solid foundation you can recognise and fine tune your shave edges..everyone is still learning....no experts here..
It smells like beef stew, is soft to the bite, tastes like roast beef. Extra cilantro works well, salsa roja mandatory, add lime to taste.
