    Saturday's Shave

    Schick E2
    Personna Blade
    Lowborn Supply Blood Knot
    Proraso Red Shaving Soap
    Proraso Red Aftershave

Post yard work shave and it sure felt nice. The Proraso Red is the first "matching set" I ever bought. When I got it, I thought I had hit the jackpot and never needed anything else...but curiosity didn't stay away too long. It is a fine set that smells fantastic and one of my favorites still. The shave today was exceptional - two passes for a DFS+ and no irritation. It really is BBS everywhere except on my lower neck which I can only detect a hint of hair when I feel ATG. I will take that over irritation any day. The Schick E2 still stands as my most efficient razor.

Wonderful sandalwood shave, Andrew--that Schick is in excellent condition! Love that Blood Knot, as well; I've never seen anything even remotely like it before :D

Ok, I rarely do an extra pass on a shave that I did earlier in the day, but I decided to do it. I put in a new blade in my Dovo shavette and figured why not get a nicer finish and I also want to use ro the Sandalwood soap. So I went to an IBSS++ to an almost pass the cotton test BBS. Ah! All is right in the world!

    The Shave
Got a fairly early shave this morning, cooked up some coconut chocolate chip rice pudding for breakfast, took the youngest on a walk so that his mother wouldn’t kill him (no jury would have convicted her), and decided it was finally time to write up my report.

Started the bowl lather with a very wet brush, and for a minute or so I was scared that I overdid it, but the lather caught up with the hydration, and I ultimately didn't need to add any water. That's awesome and all, but in the future I think I'll start with just a bit less water and add as needed. The JOmega Boar is an awesome performer, and painted the icy lather effortlessly. As long as I've got time to properly soak it, this brush will probably wind up being my go to.

Three passes (WTG, XTG, ATG) with some significant touching up got me near BBS this morning--no irritation. The minor tweaks I made to the Strong Leopard worked wonders for this very cheap shavette. Tightening things up has removed all the chatter, and the locking mechanism stays put. The shaves, however, still take a bit of work. I’ve only pulled one blade out of the 40 I got, but if the rest of the Cloud 77-a blades are like this one, I’d say they are comparable to Derby Extras. I can get close comfortable shaves with them, but it takes a bit more work than usual to do it. I can live with that.

Hope everyone is having as relaxing a Saturday as I am :D

A very nice 3 pass travel shave this morning. With no touch ups I ended with a near BBS shave.

Asha and I went to Ybor City for lunch at the oldest restaurant in Florida. In business for 105 years and 5 generations of the same family.
