Beautiful Bay Rum shave, Joe! Awesome report and shave as well. Sounds like you managed to put a smooth, sharp edge on that Dovo last year :D

    Thanks Jim!

    Good morning Gary and thanks!!

Thanks Andrew! This was a sample chunk sent to me from Jason @jtspartan to try so I roke a small bit off and put it in the bowl . Still have a good sized piece left.

Excellent shave Patrick! My first step up from my VDH TTO was the Rockwell 6C. She is a fine razor. It's what gave me the impetus to get the Model T which is also an excellent razor.

Went back to this beat up ol' MMOC for the basic razor focus. Not much else basic about the combo, I suppose. 3 nice passes early this morning. A great lather, an uneventful shave and a nice juice to finish. This brush is finally breaking in as well, it seems. I am smooth, but did have a little irritation on the neck. These open comb Micromatics need to be respected.
    Have a great day all!

Jim. Always a positive when the alum does not give negative feedback. Excellent shave.

    Great news, David! :D

As to the boar--boar brushes absorb water, so if you aren't giving it a good soak before use (I keep mine soaking while I take a shower) it'll steal the water out. But once hydrated, a boar is usually a fantastic latherer. I prefer both the boars that I currently have over my Finest Badger. I still haven't quite found the magic touch for that badger yet--but I'll keep at it till I do ;)

Congrats on the Unconditional Surrender and the new blades, Patrick. Fwiw, That CL splash will match very well with the Stirling Gentleman you have. The Maximo Gomez as well, for that matter.

Yup, that's the beauty of wetshaving- bad days heal well. Nice 'basics' focus as well. I enjoy the Personna blades so I bought them in bulk last year from Connaught (with a bunch of Palmolive sticks). Best price around, I think.

Thank you Tim! Last July, I did my first honing ever with this razor, my Dovo Special and my Wostenholm 5/8 pipe. They weren't full hone jobs because I purchased the 2 Dovo's new and the vintage pipe shave ready. The vintage pipe has 34 shaves on it without refreshing it on the crox pasted strop and is still going strong
As you know, I had inadvertently damaged the edge on the Dovo Special and recently had to reset the bevel and bring it back to a crisp edge. With the successful restoration of my Joseph Elliot and having rehoned my Friodur to a great edge, I would say that I am entrenched in the straight razor world. Lol!

Very nice, Mark. Love the Jaws as well. What makes that brush a prototype? Did he never make another?

Sounds like a nice shave with a well prepared razor, Joe. Sorry to hear about the Omega shedding a bit, it seems to be a bit of a theme on here lately.
