I was looking at Jason's Razor Porn and I've got what would seem to be the same razor.

    Except...

Mine's in what I thought was the original case and it's labeled as an Aristocrat. Can't find a date code on it. Are there any Gillette heads out there can help me out here?

They pop up at times.. I am loving my 1911 that I thought was a 1900.
I got really lucky on that set I think.. Now theQuest . as the bank allows. is for a wooden handle.

I saw a wooden handled SE for sale up in Spokane. Can't remember the model name... Jinn? I think Dave was posting pictures of one of these a month or two ago. Anyway, It was VERY cool and in great shape, original case and all. Unfortunately, the owner in the antique store had a book on razor values and had it priced accordingly.

Oh, and thanks for looking at a DE for me Fuzzy! That's very kind of you! :D

I really wonder what the difference is... I love the way my Aristocrat shaves. It's not quite as purdy as Jason's, but it's not bad.

American made safety bar one piece TTO's of that type:
Aristocrat: The last bit of the handle before the TTO knob there is no knurling
Diplomat: Knurling the entire handle up to the TTO knob
    Executive: Bulldog knurling

    Morning everyone!

Morning Justin. The one in Jasons picture looks like my aristocrat then. It has the same bands with no Knurling on them.

My aristocrat has no date code on it though, and is not notched. I was told that dated it to 47 or so like the SS. Maybe I got a better deal then I thought on the thing. Or did it matter what case it came it like the NEW improved's?

If it has bands and no knurling, then it is the Aristocrat. Jason's has knurling all the way to the knob, so it is the Diplomat.

The gold Aristocrats can be found fairly cheaply. They were made for a number of years and were more common to start with than the Diplomat. With no blade notches, 47 sounds right. I have one like that as well. Its a nice shaver and it beats any of the superspeeds.

I got mine for less than $10 last fall. However, I have seen some minty ones fetch a fair price. I have also seen some regular techs in an aristocrat box claim extraordinary prices. But that's eBay for you. The real thing can go for a song and a mislabeled tech can go for an arm and a leg. Usually if the auction says aristocrat, it gets a lot of interest and higher bids regardless of what is being sold. If it isn't labeled aristocrat it can slide under the radar.

OK... some quick editing of one of Achim's and Jason's pictures to show what I am talking about. I hope neither of them mind me doing this to their pics..

Aristocrat: There are bands above the TTO knob but no knurling on them

Diplomat: the knurling goes all the way down the handle to the TTO knob.
