I broke out a "Marketed for Paraguay" razor, that was "Made In Spain". I had a perfect 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. This razor went through several days of thick growth, like it was nothing. Saturday Straights' Shave Cold Water Rinse Col. Conk Amber Jayaruh #1 Wilbert "Acme" CWR Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB I like to think of this straight as my "Roadrunner" razor since it is an "Acme." This little razor preformed outstandingly this morning. It was very smooth with no issues. The Col. Conk Amber face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #1 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Wilbert "Acme" gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
With some trepidation I picked up the monster W&B again today. The first shave didn’t quite live up to expectations so I wasn’t sure what to expect on the second outing. Nothing to worry about, it gave a wonderful close and smooth shave. One likely reason is that I kept the spine closer to my face. This is a big razor. It weighs roughly double that of my prized Lund which I last shaved with (3.25 oz vs 1.55 oz) and the spine is about an eight of an inch wider. The razor? I bought it from Murphy and McNeil. If you are talking bout the brush, Derek made it and gave it to me. If you are talking about the strop, I bought it used on the bay. The razor is beautiful. I love it, well I love all of my Japanese razors. Some though I love more than others.
