Aaand...a check on the survey shows a 3-way tie for second place. Basic razors, Cookies, and Ice-Cream are battling it out at 32%.

    Just the Basics June

    Tuesday's Shave

    Schick Type E2
    Personna Blade
    Omega 11126 Boar
    LEA Mentholated Shaving Cream
    Osage Rub

Today was my first run with the LEA shaving cream and also the Omega 11126 brush that just recently arrived from Connaught. I twice washed the knot with the orange bar of Dial antibacterial soap and gave it a good towel scrubbing to get it going properly. This is only my second boar brush and is a good bit smaller than my Omega 49. The one is 24mm with a 55mm loft.

I am completely impressed with the LEA Mentholated cream. It has a heaping dose of menthol and is notably thirsty. It's an especially slick and creamy lather and left me with a superb face feel after the shave. Of all the creams I have tried, this is definitely one of the best. The Schick E2 had an easy job of gliding around my face while the lather kept me nice and cool.
The Osage Rub concluded the shave with a fine face freeze.

2 passes for a DFS++ and no irritation.

A great game for this morning's photo is 'How Many Jim's Can You See?' I count 7 :D

Gemini Shave Month (Twin shaves-same set up two days in a row).

    Rating: 4.5 / 5

    Razor: Fatip Grande Open Comb
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock (Green)
Brush: Brent Jacobson Tamarind and Ebony w/ Paragon 24mm boar
Lather: Pre de Provence No. 63
Aftershave: Pre de Provence No. 63 Aftershave Balm
    Additional Care:
    Barbero Alum Block
    Stirling Tea Tree Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

I have not use the Pre de Provence soap in a while. I figured a nice citrusy type scent would work well with the humidity forecasted for the day. The scent does.

I managed to pull off a DFS although the shave was not a smooth As I would have preferred. The shave was the third for this blade. Normally, I am able to get 5 shaves out of the Gillette 7 O’clock Green (Super Stainless). I am not sure if the blade was presenting a challenge, the slickness of the lather or a combination of both. I did notice that following the shave my face felt more on the drier side than usually. Therefore, the reason for the double balm treatment.

Great shave report, Joe! Love the Fatip! Not so much the Green 7 O’Clocks. I prefer the yellows, and have always found them to be sharper and smoother. Hope your day goes well!

Great shave report, Andrew, with my favorite vintage injector! I’ve heard good things about Lea, and love shave cream. I may check it out! The menthol component seems just my style! Hope your day goes well!

Awesome shave and awesomer report, Jeff! I've seen the Silversmith before, but I don't think I truly noticed how striking that handle is. And no comments are necessary regarding the much coveted @MrEE 007 handle. Beautiful set up this morning :D

Thank you Joe. We are having a rainy messy day in the ATL

    Thank you Patrick.

Thank you, Jeff! I love using the LEA shave stick, so I thought I would give their cream a try.
For me, the menthol is noticeably higher in the LEA cream than what's in the Proraso Green tube. I do love using Proraso, but the LEA is a much better performer.
Hope you have a great day too!

    Awesome! :happy102:

Regarding the XTG pass, it might be worthwhile to loosely tape your Dovo with electrical tape over the blade and do a few practice XTG passes just to get the motion down and build a bit of confidence. I did a few bladeless shavette runs before trying ATG passes on my neck just to make sure I didn't pull any of the classic Tim-wasn't-thinking-straight nonsense that has become almost a trademark throughout the years ;)

Excellent shave report and lineup Joe. Sorry the shave was not as smooth as you hoped.

Awesome shave report Andrew. The LEA Mentholated shave cream sounds fantastic.
