  1. Well said Joe!
  2. Of course, you wouldn't actually want more than a feeling while shaving. Badomp, Badomp!
  3. I think you will be surprised at experiencing winter scents in the heat.
  4. Awesome shave Blair! Great total time!

  5. I can't hear "The A-Train" without thinking of my grandfather. He couldn't pass anywhere near a piano without playing something (he knew hundreds of swing era songs), but "The A-Train" was the one I enjoyed listening to him play the most. I have his collection of 78 RPM albums. The Missus wants me to digitize them so we can get rid of them to make room for other things--I keep avoiding and deflecting the conversation ;)

  9. A classic and classy shave, Jason! I love the B&W photo :D

I might try a XTG, XTG shave with the shavette today just to see what happens.

  10. I think it's just overall 'seat' time. Some open edge razors a little faster for me, like the Feather AC DX shavette, most are about the same or a little slower. Open edge shaves don't feel rushed currently...in fact it's the opposite. I pick up the safety razors either cause I'm in a rush, or I'm traveling. What I was trying to do with my timing is count what would be 'equal' time between a safety and open edge shave, i.e. preshave....which with a straight is when I overlap stropping, or with a safety...it's fiddling with blade loading/unloading/breaking/throwing away/etc. For me there's fiddly tedium time with safety razors too. Kind of averages out....until there's honing. That's more of a time consumer, but it's very infrequently so far with the current routine and edge status on my straights.

Wasn't it just a few weeks ago that @Bama Samurai posted a 7 min 1 pass shavette shave (with DFS results)? That's experience at work, darned quick and efficient. But...I want to enjoy the lather longer!

  11. Carnivale is the best! I know the owner and his son Joe. Colosseo is good also. However, I went to Rocco's in Mt Sinai. I figured it would not be crowded and I was right.

Gemini Shave Month (Twin shaves-same set up two days in a row).

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Double Duck Twin Duck Special #1
Brush: Jayaruh 410 with Omega #48 Boar
    Lather: Soap Commander Vision
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue
    Additional Care:
    Barbero Alum Block
Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

A wonderful shave. I have not used the SC Vision in quite a while. I am always impressed with how well the SC soaps lather and perform. I have Vision and Honor in my den. The Jayaruh brush once again performed marvelously, easily whipping up a thick lather.

The Twin Duck razor delivered a superb shave . I did get once minor nick on my left cheek due to user error. I failed to stretch the skin adequately while using my non dominant hand.

The AV Ice Blue splash accompanied with the Stirling balm finished off this shave nicely. This was a great noontime shave, following a morning workout and an hour and a half of splitting wood. Now it is pool time.

    Enjoy your day gentlemen.
  16. Wow! Gorgeous photo, Andrew--all those greens and wonderful gear :D. That Super Speed looks amazing, and the Menthol Palmolive sounds awesome!

  17. Thanks Joe! I should have also stated the cool factor that is inherent with straight razors.
  18. I know, right? The song was Chris' @Bama Samurai clever reminder for successful shavette shaves (actually any shave, come to think of it). I tend to be heavy handed with a razor unless I remind myself not to be--"Pressure Drop" is a great reminder ;)
