Razors: Fatip Gentile Slant & Ikon B1 Slant
    Brush: Wild West Brushworks
    Soap: OSP
    Pre-Shave & ASB: Bart’s Balms Peppermint
    Blade: Feather

I decided to test the Fatip against another slant again tonight. This time I chose my Ikon B1 Slant and included a head shave into the mix.

I also thought I’d try a cold water shave for the first time, having always shaved with hot water before.

The first thing I noticed was that, whilst the lather formed nicely in the bowl, the anticipated menthol scent was missing. The lather also felt a bit meh when I applied it to my face. On my head it felt awful. The best I can liken it to was like someone slapping me over the head with a wet fish!!!

Things looked up when I started to shave. The Ikon surprised me as I can’t remember it being as smooth as this before. I haven’t used it for a few months and a change in routine may well account for this.

In terms of the two, I could tell no difference between the Fatip and Ikon in terms of efficiency after two head passes, and the Ikon felt ever so slightly smoother.

    Onto the face shave.

I re-lathered in my bowl with warm water this time and this improved things somewhat. I then used cold water to rinse the razors and the juxtaposition between hot and cold on my face felt great. I’ll certainly be repeating this combination again.

In terms of the razors, the efficiency of the Fatip and Ikon was the same as on the head shave and the Ikon felt slightly smoother.

I changed things up for the second and third passes adding a Blackbird and Timeless 0.95 SB into the mix. These are two razors I know well and I found the Fatip to be smoother than the Blackbird and slightly less smooth than the Timeless (which didn’t surprise me as it’s one of the smoothest razors out there).

So far, my preliminary thoughts on the Fatip are:

    1) Cheap, good tolerances but a bit rough around the edges.
    2) As efficient as an Ikon B1 Slant, Blackbird and Timeless 0.95 SB.
    3) More efficient than a Razorock Wunderbar.
    4) Smoother than a Blackbird.
    5) Less smooth than Wunderbar, Timeless 0.95SB and an Ikon B1 Slant.

I can definitely see these razors becoming popular over time.

Excellent Photo and review Matt. St. Martin's Land sounds very intriguing. I must say I really like Planet 9 myself. It is very robust and heady, what I'd call a hard, abrupt scent. It isn't deep with any sub notes in my opinion, but I'm not great at describing such things. Neroli may be a floral scent, but I wouldn't classify Planet 9 as something that is light or flowery. Anyways, you peaked and enabled my interest. I'm sure this will be in my next order with PAA.
