Stunning photo, Jim--that Biblical looks like it was pulled right out of the Summer Fig label! :D

Downsizing isn't a bad idea although I don't see us doing it anytime soon. I hate moving.
    Wonderful picture, Clint!
I barely had enough lather for my third pass this morning too, no shed hairs though.

This may have been commented on...just reading along as I have time working an event.

Lateral blade creep. Great explanation. Disastrous results. Been there!

I know there may be straight razor grip ‘purists’ that want or will use only certain ways of holding a open edge blade while shaving, but not me. I’d probably have a few people cringing about my shaves and grips. :scared003: Grip doesn’t matter. It’s what works for you.

Small corollary, as an armchair percussionist still with practice pads and sticks...there’s always the argument of traditional grip (purist) or matched grip (sometimes referred to as lazy), but who cares. It’s what gets the job done. I’d point out some interviews with Neil Peart, arguably a top two ranked percussionist ever, talked about this and used both grips, whichever worked for the technical expertise needed to get the job done.

    Thank you Gary.

    Thank you Andrew.

Thank you Joe. I did buy the handle and knot separately. Heritage was out of their gel boar knots. The gel treatment is basically using concentrated hair products on the boar bristles to speed up the break in process and give it the knot a gel like feel when wet. There are only a couple of places using the gel process now. While the process softens up the feel quickly it still requires one to use the brush several times to start getting consistently good results lathering. A couple of more uses and this one will be good to go.

I wouldn't quite go that far Jeff. I do have a wide variety of things that are hobbies. I really like trying to take good photos. I have a lot of room for improvement but I find it fun.

Very nice, Joe. My Goldedge is a great razor. Good-looking, too.

Now with both girls gone most all the time, the large house is really not something we need. I absolutely hate moving and we have accumulated so much stuff here.

Thank you Jim. I just did a test lather using a bowl and had enough lather for 6 or more passes. The knot is getting better. I think I will bowl lather tomorrow morning.

That's a beautiful looking shave, Joe! By the time fall rolls around, I think I'll be ready for a couple (or three) Stirling samples--Satsuma will be one of them. :D

Wonderful shave and report, Joe! Summer thunderstorms are the best (sadly, we rarely get them down this way).
