Looks like Mr Peanut to me. Of course Mr Peanut looks like Mr Monopoly (aka Rich Uncle Pennybags), with a monocle.

fair enough. here's how the math works:

each bid on their site raises an item's price by one cent. each bid costs the bidder one dollar.

So say they're auctioning a $50 gift card and it goes for $2.00. That represents $200 of bids. Now, I don't know if they show a bid history at the site but from what I've read they do not. This means you don't know how many people bid on that item or how often. So that could mean $100 of bids from one person to win a $50 card.

I do know that they give away free bid packages to folks to attract them to the site. This means that you have folks with free bids to burn competing for items with people who paid for them. The free bid folks will drive the price up. One person I read about received 300 bids as a come-on, and spent over 100 of them on a $50 card and still hadn't won it at the time of posting.

You have to buy bids in packages. I think $20 for 20 bids is the lowest amount you can buy. The have an automated bid manager system that places bid for you on items you want. Thus, the system is designed so that you'll burn through your bids without realizing how much you've spent.

So basically, the site is a modified raffle.

Ahhh... I see you have found a counterfeit Distraction Derringer!

While very similar to the official pocket pistol of Distraction, the one in your picture is quite obviously a fake! You will note that your photo is missing one crucial detail included in all genuine Distraction Derringers:

    A nice pair of boobies.*

*which, by the way, it should be noted, are so awesome that they appear in colour even in pre-colour photographs!
