Tim, I was going to recommend Sunekos, but they’re sold out at the sole northern hemisphere supplier. But Yellow 7 O’Clocks are a great blade and they are readily available as are Voskhods.

Thanks, Chris! I’ve been enjoying the Kamisori hold on my Dovo Special ATG strokes since I began open edge shaving again. We’ll see!

Happy July 4th Weekend to all my shave brothers and sisters. Stay safe and healthy! Well today marked my first Feather SS Kamisori shave with the Feather AC Kamisori shavette razor gifted to me by my son. It’s been quite hot and muggy here in southeast PA lately. So I decided on a frigid shave, and pulled out the big menthol guns. Osage Rub and Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite were the perfect close to my M-Bombed TOOBS Peppermint shave cream. Let’s just say it was a highly cooling experience and far superior to my Cryogen outings. I'm still cool an hour and a half after the shave.

I usually shave with a Feather Super in my three AC safety razors with great success. When my son gifted me his two Feather SS razors, I had my first two shaves with the folding model using a Feather Super since that shavette best resembled my Dovo Special straight razor. Those first two shaves with the Feather SS AC shavette went well despite some minor set-down errors on yours truly’s part. The Feather Super is incredibly sharp, and as a result quite unforgiving of minor lapses in technique. Recognizing this, my son gave me some Kai Mild Pink AC blades for my learning process.

An almond sized blob of the enhanced TOOBS Peppermint shave cream whipped up a decent, respectable, slick lather. Although not approaching the lather quality of MWF or Nancy Boy, it did the job. While the Kai AC blade was not as sharp as the Feather Super it still delivered a DFS quality two pass (WTG, ATG) bloodless mug shave. I actually enjoyed the face shave this time far more than I have with the Dovo Special or Feather SS folding shavette. The hold felt more comfortable to me over the traditional three finger folding straight razor hold. I really was able to relax and enjoy, instead of being apprehensive about the shave process. That will probably pass with more experience with the Dovo traditional straight razor.

The dome shave went exactly as expected. Why wouldn’t it? The Blackland Vector loaded with a Feather Super obliterated 95% of the stubble in that first WTG pass. The second ATG pass put the baby to bed. What was really cool, however, was that there was no need for cleanup of my face shave. I’ve been using my dome razors for facial stubble buffing since I returned to open edge shaving, but there was really no need this time! That little Feather Kamisori SS did the trick. My face shave was much closer than it’s ever been with the traditional folding straights I’ve used. In fact, on further assessment, while it wouldn't pass the cotton ball test, it was a definite DFS+++. Alum revealed very slight warmth around the Adam’s Apple. I feel frozen, but still clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Feather SS Kamisori (Mug), Blackland Vector (Noggin)
BLADE: Kai Mild Pink AC (Mug), Feather Super AC (Noggin)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by PAA Rabid Banana Preshave Cube
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute w/ 26mm Boar Ferrule
CREAM: TOOBS Peppermint w/ 6 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite AS Splash.

    July 3rd
    Razor: Rocnel Elite 2019LE Aggressive
    Blade: Polsilver SI (3)
    Brush: WWB Lemondrop/Envy Supreme White
    Pre-shave: PAA Rabid Banana Cube
    Soap: PAA Rabid Banana
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: PAA Rabid Banana

    Good morning!

Terrific first shave with the Rocnel Elite. Weighty razor that feels good in hand and plenty of grip. Fair amount of blade feel without feeling harsh. Three passes for near BBS. The alum was warmer than usual along my jawline. I'm looking forward to more shaves with it.

    Have a great day!

Well done resurrecting the Piacenza, Joe.
Thank you, Jeff. The razor is in very nice condition and imo, there has been very little advancement since this one appeared over 100 years ago.
I should look so good at 112. Well, that is assuming an awful lot.
    Thanks, Joe.
