My father bought me a brand new FatBoy in either 59 or 60. I didn't like it back then, so he gave it to his dad. I did kind of like the 62 Slim, it just felt more balanced to me. My dad told me I was nuts and that the FatBoy was the best balanced Gillette to date. He was born in '14.
that's really cool Mac.you are one of the few i know here who's seen that experience .mu grandad was a gillette man from at least ww2 onwards but i never knew which ones he had.i suspect a brit flat bottom tech or 2..i love the 30s to late 40s ones the best..
Independence Day weekend, time to spend more time with an old favorite, my G1 date code Adjustable 195. A truly excellent shave with a brand new German Wilkinson Sword blade.
Happy Friday everyone! Another week blazed through at break neck speed. Always seems to be the case when it’s warm and sunny out. There has been some discussions about Bay Rum scents on a couple of the forums I am part of and so I grabbed out my fav for today! RazoRock Black Bay. Love it! Great soap and quite an addictive scent with no clove. Matching AS is exceptional and worth having around on it’s own. Today’s razor of choice a beautiful 1930’s Gillette New LC in 24k. I love OC razors and do believe everyone venturing into OC should start here. I have a couple of SC also but this LC is my fav amongst them. Lovely two pass DFS for a sunny Friday. Topped off with some Guerlain L’Homme Ideal and so ready for the work day and the cruise to the weekend! Enjoy folks and stay safe! Back in the day, dad and I both like the TTO razors because of the hard water. You had to partially open the razor to swish/flush/rinse the beard and soap scum from the razor after each pass. And now, thanks to Gary, I'm a died in the wool Tech guy, New rfb's too but my daily drivers are Tech type design based 3 piece razors.
