Happy 4th to those of us that celebrate. It's hard to believe that this little experiment of a democratic republic is celebrating 244 years. I decided to go with an all American lineup today, The Rex, Mr EE #4 and WSP Barbershop and Small Batch Shave Tonic. The Mr EE #4 did a wonderful job loading and lathering the WSP Barbershop. I love the scent which is not nearly as powdery as most barbershop soaps. I find it modern take on a classic barbershop scent much like B&M Seville. I was reading a thread on another forum about the Rex yesterday and a poster mentioned that he has better luck with the Rex riding the safety bar and not the cap. In the spirit of experimentation, I dialed the Rex up to 5 and did 3 passes and touch ups riding the bar. The result was a superbly smooth BBS shave. A splash of Small Batch Shave Tonic and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

    Terrific shave and picture, Clint!
I've always used a shallow angle with the Ambassador. I'll try a steep angle tomorrow.

Thank you Jim. I have always tried to ride the cap with the ReX. So I was prepared to change back at the first sign of peeling skin. I had to keep reminding myself to not ride the cap.

Yeah, tough to shave with a steep angle when used to using a shallow angle. I found that with the Dart. I got great shaves with it when I first received it, before muscle memory took over. Now I have to remind myself constantly to stay steep while using it.

Nice shave this morning. As I was shaving with "sophisticated goo"(can), I did just the one pass. A few touch-ups, thus let's make it 1.5. That's right, five-tenths of a pass. :). Had a cut just above the center of my jawline. Looked serious at first, but has calmed down now. Good work down at Cactus Nation(the neck, front and sides). Clubman Gent's Gin for the closer. Even with the cut, I'd say it was a Very Excellent shave.

I did try to do an All-American shave, but got tripped up with the razor blade.

I chose to scoop and smear a dollop of the GTB and while this soap never achieves the shine
of some other soaps, I did manage a lovely, slick lather:

The Polsilver seemed to have a burr. This is the second (and last) shave with this blade.
Maybe I nicked it when storing the blade? Anything's possible.
It only reared its ugly head a few times around my mouth. Strange.
No blood, no cuts, just a feeling of pointy edge.
It's interesting that I can perform a WTG pass on the left side of my neck, without issue,
but when I try the same pass on the right side, my
    skin revolts.
The GTB has a typical barbershop scent; a little powdery, but not offensive.
It does provide a nice, bracing feeling when splashed on.
I hope everyone here on TSD has a relaxing and fun 4th of July.
I also wish that all Americans would realize what an honor and privilege it is
to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
God Bless The United States of America.

One of these days, take some raw almonds, a pat of butter, kosher or sea salt....... In a small foil pan for a couple of hours early smoke.

One of my daughters pesters me to make them all the time. Adjust the ingredients to your taste and give them a few quick stirs in the making.

    YUM!

    Happy 4th.
