In this time of political and economic turmoil, let's all take a minute to set aside our differences and celebrate and remember the things that truly make America great. Take a moment to remember those who fought and died in our revolution to ensure future generations of Americans would never have to bow their heads to a King or lord. Those who fought and died in our Civil War to reunite our country and extend the shadow of freedom to cover all men. Those who fought in the great war, and the second world war, to ensure the freedoms of future generations of Americans and Europeans. Those who fought in Vietnam, Korea, and Iraq, to allow those nations the right to determine their own futures. Those who continue to fight in Afghanistan against those who would oppress their own people. Let us also remember those who gave their lives in the civil rights movements, to ensure that equal rights were given to all, regardless of race, religion, gender or creed. Have a happy and safe 4th of July! Edit: For your viewing enjoyment, a little slice of Americana, and "the greatest music video ever made," according to Rodger Ebert.
I wish you all a safe and happy Independence Day! We wil honor the day quietly at home, with our well-dressed critters.
