Gel-tips on a boar...very unusual, I must say. I had one badger with gel-tips, and honestly, I didn't care for the "crunchiness". Oh well, it does make for a very nice photo. Have a great Friday, Clint and welcome to the weekend.

The casualties of war, Pierpaolo. Very unfortunate.

Thank you Joseph. So far I am not a fan of the gel tips either.

    Awesome picture, Clint!
My gel knot was better this morning as well.
So sorry about the brush and bowl, Pierpaolo.
    Beautiful, Mark!

I'd almost offer to trade you jobs...however my project is in the AC (except for cutting tile, and that's only a minute or so at at time). Hopefully it won't be too hot and miserable for your pressure washing project.
I'm waiting to Maggard's to either get Desert Vetiver - or restock some of the others in tins. I have store credit since they cancelled the Maggard Meet this year. Honestly, I'm surprised my patience has held out this long and that I haven't spent my credit already. Hope you have a Happy Friday!

Fine shave this morning, although I do have that "face-lit-on-fire" feeling. I must admit I do enjoy the scent of the Phoenix A.A. Boomtown Bay Rum with the Clubman Special Reserve A.S. on top. As the day progresses, I'll decide if I want to keep it for summer use or store it in the back of the bus(den)for the fall/winter seasons. 0:30 to load the soap onto the Stoylin brush(Pro-Handle). Nice, good spreading motion across the face and neck. A big fat goose-egg for the number of cuts&weepers(talkin zero). Cactus Nation worked just fine along the neck. I suppose if you're shaving with an Arizona-based soap, you'd BETTER do well if you use the Cactus Nation form down at the neck. :). I might try a different A.S. if I continue to use this soap in the summer(Hint-it would be Stoylin Unscented, as I don't want to kill the scent of the soap. ) Nothing against Clubman Special Reserve, but I want to see if something a BIT cooler might improve the overall feel of the shave. When we get to fall&winter, it's back to Special Reserve. But I'll see how my face&neck are handling the "heat" as the day progresses, as I said. Top Of The World Excellent.

    July 10th
    Razor: Carbon Shaving Cx-316L ++
    Blade: Gillette Nacet (1)
Brush: Grizzly Bay Biblical/TnS gelled Shoat boar
    Pre-shave: PAA Rabid Banana Cube
    Soap: PAA Lavender Planet
    Thayers Lavender witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: PAA Lavender Planet

    Good morning!

Wonderful shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Just the faintest tickle from the alum.

The CX-316L ++ isn't a steep angle razor. So very smooth at a shallow angle. Get too steep and it really feels like it is scraping across my face.

I'm optimistic that my Shoat boar is going to be a fine knot. It has improved with each use. Plenty of lather for three passes maybe even a fourth had I been so inclined.

    Have a great day![IMG]

Thank you Jim. This knot is really trying my patience and I don't have a lot to spare.

Oh it is going to be hot and muggy this weekend. In the 90s with high humidity. Just a lot of fun. I would wait on Maggard as well. I might end up getting the matching splash when or if I see it in stock.

Simply a beautiful photo Jim. I love the colors. How many times have you used the knot. I am trying to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Fine shave, Clint! Do you feel the gel boar is breaking in any faster than a regular boar knot? Hope you enjoy this sunny Friday! You should have good weather for the pressure washing this weekend.

To vicariously assist Clint work his way through the Mike's Hungarian Lavender, I chose the same soap.

Don't worry Clint, you'll be finished with yours LONG before I am.
    What a magnificent lather.
Sorry, friends of Primo's lather shots, this one got away from me.
    Back to the soap.
    Better than Barrister and Mann.
    Better than Fine.
    Better than Crabtree & Evelyn.
Better than AOS Tallow Lavender...yes, I said it.
    Better than Czech & Speake.
...and much better than MdC original.
The Feather AC, with a new Professional Super blade glided through the stubble, taking no prisoners.
One user-error awkward set-down reminded me who's boss.
Not pictured, and this is for you, Keith, a dollop of Stirling Unscented Glacial ASB
mixed with a few lovely drops of Santa Maria Novella Alba di Seoul.

    Thanks, Clint!

Today was the sixth actual shave with the brush. There were some defunking shampoos and lathers before it was put into use.

Thank you Andrew. The gel knot was softer on the face from the first use than most boars. However, it is slower to actually break in and produce lather. The two new Semogue boar knots are light years ahead of this knot from the first use.

I need to buy some adult beverages before I start pressure washing. I can wash with one hand and enjoy a beverage with the other. :eatdrink047:

Fantastic shave and report Primo. I adore the Mike's Lavender scent. Plus it just flat works.

Today was my 5th time using the brush. I have some soaps I thought about giving away. I think I will just keep bowl lathering the knot until it gets better. Then I can put it back into rotation.
