We leave ours unnattended for a few hours at a time. I don't really worry about it misbehaving. Not sure why, just don't.

Hey folks this is my long weekend so have not been on much. Sneaking in a little check while at work here. Getting back to normal, having to tell my self to take it easy since I feel so good. Going in the morning to have more cut out of my face for the melanoma. Fun stuff. But life is good huh?

Getting some rain here. Might get to interesting weather.

    You folks take care.

Oh no, didn't think that at all. If we are going to be there to watch it, I will use a newer one. I guess I should have said that the majority of the crockpot cooking is done when I work nights, I put something in the crock and go to bed, when I wake up I have supper ready for the family. So in that sense I don't leave the house, but I sure ain't gonna watch it either.

A few hours is fine, but there has been a couple of times where its been 8-9 hours on low, and for that I only trust a vintage one.

Best wishes to you my friend! Be sure to take it easy, hoping for the best on the melanoma, and take shelter if the weather threatens!

I love interesting weather... as long as I'm simply an observer. :scared011 I was under a big thunderstorm once, up in the mountains at about 9k feet in an alpine meadow. The bottoms of the clouds were about 50 feet up. Thunder, lightening, rain and hail for 6 hours (the storm was butted up against the edge of a glacier that rose another thousand feet from the meadow. I'd never been so scared in all my life.

It's good to hear that you're having to convince yourself to take it easy - beats heck out of the alternative. I hope tomorrow goes easy for you, Calvin. I'll be shootin' the good vibes your way and holding you close in my thoughts. Be well, my friend!

Thinking I should go back to work today. Still not feeling 100%, but oh well.

    Morning everyone!

Yup... still have a dehydrator that I use for beef jerky, fruit leather, etc.. to prep for longer camping trips. I have used it for banana chips - but never strawberries hmmmm...

Hmmmm interesting term... if it isn't digital or ironically high tech - it can't truly be Justin-Jinxed. The irony is in the fact that I am the person everyone I work with runs to for technical assistance on phones, cameras, computers, etc...

Odd about running it all night/day - I grew up with them and the worry of it running all day never bothered me. The dehydrator runs all day too - but that is just a fan and a very small heating element.

Ah... we ran an older model all day or night without checking. I haven't looked at how the newer models ran. I will agree that it felt like the one we got at our wedding 15.5 years ago always ran too hot and cooked too fast. Certainly couldn't put food in it before work and have it ready when we got home - it would end up burning.

Germ fears aside.... could it be plugged into a timer that could be set up to run an hour and then off half an hour all day? hmmmm....

Best of luck with that Dr. visit!

Eh... if you aren't running a fever (jfever?) and you feel like it, maybe it is time.

Uhhhg. Nevermind. Not feeling too good. At least I do have sick days to take, and a doctors note.

I always loved the Good Idea/Bad Idea segments... probably my favorite part of Animaniacs... well, except for Hello Nurse and Minerva Mink...

I can't believe that didn't have my favorite ones on it though...

Good Idea: Whistling while you work
Bad Idea: Whistling while you eat

Good Idea: Finding Easter eggs on Easter morning
Bad Idea: Finding Easter eggs on Christmas morning.

    Good Idea: Feeding your dog
Bad Idea: Feeding your dog...to a bear

And now that I'm older and more experienced, do my ears deceive me, or is that Tom Bodett doing the voiceover on those?

Okay, think I'm caught up now... sorry I didn't just do one super multiquote on all these, but I was replying as I went along.

    The warning.
All this talk about crock pots brings to mind some of Uncle Albert's Amazing Lost Shaving Advice:

When shopping for Crockpots and/or various other pottery pieces, the most important question to ask about the product is, "Will it lather?"

Now, it might be tempting to go for one of the smaller crock pots, but remember, if you are using one of the larger, more full badger hair brushes, you will want a pot large enough to "get your swirl on" as they say vernacularly.

Yeah I know. I always thought it was wrapped like a deuce, another roller in the night. Thinking it was some sort of gambling reference. Imagine my chagrin to find out it was a hotrod line. It was almost as crushing as that time I found out Louie Louie was a sea shanty and not "A hump song" all along...

Some of you might find this funny. I would just post it, but there's some "language" in it.

Get better and rest then. Hope things are better tomorrow.

Yup... that is who did those. Back then I couldn't look it up online as easily, but it always had that Motel 6 commercial feel to the voice quality.
