Great shave this morning! Really starting to get the hang of this straight shaving thing. Finished a two pass (WTG, ATG) that actually required no safety razor clean up, and resulted in a DFS++. Grabbed my trusty VC1 and completed my usual two pass (WTG, ATG) VBBS dome shave. I feel refreshed, cool, clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Dovo Special (Mug) Valet Auto Strop VC1 (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather FHS-10
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Rabid Banana Preshave Cube
    BRUSH: Jayaruh Custom Boar #372
SOAP: Haslinger Schafmilch w/ 6 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood AS Splash followed by Royall Bay Rhum EdT

Real nice shave today..0:25 to load the Stoylin "No-Name" Brush(we need a name here), with the Razorock LIme Burst soap. 2 solid passes, although once again(as with yesterday)I felt I needed to add a little more soap for that first pass. No nicks or cuts(Who is that fella Nick Relief, anyway??). Another successful time at Cactus Nation. The Stoylin Glacial Lime was a comfortable finisher. Top Of The World Excellent.

Fabulous photography and report, Maestro. I’ve never ridden the cap on any of my safety razors, except with my adjustables when wide open. I also have a 2011 R41 and have shaved it as I shave all my safety razors, on the bar or comb as may be. As an open edge shaver you should have no problem.

not at all.my gillette collecting, mostly the brit stuff was to honor my grandad.they all shave quite similar.i will own a colonial silversmith one day for the joy of using it..beyond that i am open, hence the valet razors, cooper monobilt and schick e2.my gillette collecting days are done save for an odd tech or so.my gillettes should hold there value so i can recoup down the road if i want to.i haven't seen a lot of new stuff that interests me enough to pay the high prices for.the game changer looks cool, the stainless karve as well.and that new russian stainless.not a pot metal or plastic fan so that rules out a lot as well..
