July 2020 30 Day Rule/Focus Pix & Discussion

Thanks, guys, much appreciated! After my injury 5 yrs ago, I don’t think I’ll ever not be on my guard when straight shaving .

 

Weather Underground says it's going to be 110 degrees today--I expect anything I were to buy would probably come melted all together.

That is not a photo of me; I was giving Jeff a hard time about saying he will never embrace the straight shave, and then immediately starting a straight razor collection. I figure it's just a matter of time before we see a Jeff straight razor head shave. MAY-hem anyone?

The Missus has made it abundantly clear that she prefers me to keep what little hair I have on my head. I can cut it short, but no blades allowed

 

Fantastic report, Joe! I am impressed that you have stuck with the shavette for as long as you have--it's hard sticking with a single item when you've got so much awesomeness sitting in the bullpen

• Razor: Max Headroom Focus R21 Shavette
• Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (4)
• Brush: Stirling Finest Badger--I didn’t have time to give the JOmegan boar a proper soaking, so I grabbed the badger, put the shave stick to my face and went at it.
• Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple
• Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops
• AS: Pinaud Citrus Musk(1 Frost Drop)
• Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

The Shave
I didn’t have much time for anything other than 2 quick passes (WTG and XTG/ATG). Touch ups can easily be a time vampire for me, and because I needed to finish fairly quickly I opted to forego them today. Smoothness was all over the map today, but averages out to a DFS. No irritation, which is a bit of a miracle considering how quickly I had that shavette moving. Think it’s time to retire the Polsilver--just started to get a bit tuggy

• Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple & Glastonbury (prepared and chilled with ice water)
• Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops
• AS: Avon Wild Country (1 Frost Drop)
• Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

The Shave
Bowl lather for today and tomorrow (pressed too much soap on the bottom)--it was perfect and oh so chilly

3 passes and minimal touch ups still got me the baby. 2 weepers on either corner of my mouth sort of surprised me on the last pass, but at least I was symmetrical. They disappeared with the cold water rinse, and now I’m BBS, irritation free, and nicely cool.

Sounds like a very good shave and a relaxing afternoon around the pool. I had much the same. My youngest grandson, his parents, and my daughter-in-law’s mother came over for a swim. Hope your afternoon and evening go as well!
