This mug has the same general shape as a mug I recently came to own. I’m wondering about age. Mine is made of milk glass and by Surrey. There was a whole set of them featuring antique cars. I have just the one. Anyone heard of Surrey milk glass mugs?
I loved my Edwin Jagger Dark Blue mug. Then I stupidly gave it to my brother but didn't realize he was too lazy to actually MAKE a lather. Still uses aerosols. Think I'm going to ask for it back!!
just scored..a 50-70s victor heavy coffee mug.. https://www.r-infinity.com/Victor_Cups/index.htm coffee mug or shave mug, what would you use it for?
If you’re talking mugs (as opposed to scuttles) Marvys indestructible rubber mugs. The best. Nothing close. Even has an elevated ring on the bottom to let your soap dry. You can drop it, throw it, kick it, throw it into traffic Anything you want there toughguy, it ain’t goin’ nowhere!
+1 I'm more a FL guy, but when I've seen specs, I was truely impressed. The Phoenix Shaving (PAA) "The Crown King" Shatterproof Travel Scuttle is outstanding. http://ilrasoio.com/viewtopic.php?p=301351#p301351 And It's nice too ...
Given the history of breakage, I would suggest: Captain's Choice Copper - $36 PAA Travel Scuttle - $20 Marvy Mug - $16 Timeless Lather Bowl - $12 Of those four, the only one that"s actually a mug is the Marvy. From experience, I can testify that it'll survive a five foot fall to a tiled shower floor (Several times). The Timeless has also bounced a few times.
I have one. No offense taken by your comments. I really like it. And I don't believe it's cheaply made. It's just light because the copper is pretty thin and lined with tin which is also pretty light. The handle is on very firmly and I detect zero movement from it. Beyond that there's nothing not to like. And I paid about $8 for mine. Nothing not to like about that either.
I'm a big fan of vintage Victor diner mugs. I have a set of 5 of them but I don't use them for shaving. I use them for coffee. They are the absolute perfect mug for drinking coffee and I use one every morning. But I wouldn't use it for shaving. It's far too narrow for that purpose.
enjoying a hot coffee and irish cream ,awesome mug.not hot on the hand either like modern thin mugs.cheers gents, need a refill, where's Alice..
