July 2020 30 Day Rule/Focus Pix & Discussion

Way behind and don't think I can catch up so I will just jump in. I did a quick trip to the east cost of Korea to the city of Gangneung. It hosted a couple of Winter Olympic events. Arrived in the afternoon enjoyed some time walking along the beach and enjoyed the sunset with some adult beverages and cigars.


Next morning woke up early and used my regular travel kit for a quick shave and the off to breakfast. The area is famous for seafood and tofu, especially spicy tofu stew. I went the fusion route and had the extra spicy with cheese, bottom right.



Then we hit the golf course which is just 5 minutes away,



Made the drive home through some brutal Friday afternoon rush hour traffic and went to bed early.

Saturday morning shave was back to straights with a not fancy but great edge Hart Steel 7/8. The absurdly large Kent BK-12 and Castle Forbes made it a shave worthy of an emperor.

Thanks, Joe! I always get upset when someone who’s obviously never learned to shave with the AS-D2 improperly dismisses it as “mild”. It’s one of the best shavers in my collection, and never fails to deliver a bloodless, extremely close VBBS.

 

Perfect example of the YMMV acronym!

Not mine, Joe! Two spouses, one daughter, three granddaughters and I’m sure my great-granddaughter (although in fairness almost three months may be pushing it) all adore G-Pop’s dome!

 

Great shave, PierPaolo, but the music, “Che bello”! Brings back some great teenage memories on the beach in CA in the late 50s early 60s!

 

Speaking from personal experience, the Monsieur Charles is a great Barber’s razor that takes injectors! The IBC has issues with properly accommodating AC blades according to one reviewer on YT. Just had a great morning shave with the Monsieur Charles with a Schick B-20 Proline injector!

 

Thank you, Bill. Things are looking better, and Kathy has fought the good fight. Hoping for an early week hospital discharge. 33 days and counting in the hospital so far. At that point, we will have some outpatient visits, a stretch of time on our own, and then our scheduled follow up appointments. After that, we will head back to The Bluegrass State.

Really appreciate everyone's prayers and encouragement. Snide remarks are good too...reminds me that I'm still part of this wonderful 30DC brotherhood.

I'd be hesitant to buy a demo set, particularly an electronic one, due to the reason you mentioned. Even if they gave you a warranty starting at the time of purchase, there's a good chance you'd need to use it. Even if they're good about it, the hassle of having to go back in and get/wait for replacements would be frustrating.
