You tuber IAMCDB calls them memory lines. He was a safety shaver for at least 7 yrs and swore up and down that he would never use straights. He started using them this year because another Youtuber Joe "the Stallion" Esposito gifted him a vintage Wade and Butcher straight. It was such a beautiful razor that IAMCDB (Chris Bailey) had to use it. Needless to say, he got hooked and has close to 60 straight shaves. He still does DE shaves because most of his subscribers are DE shavers.

I have a friend that I believe is about your age. I remember talking with him about shaving several years before I switched to traditional shaving. He told me he's used the same Gillette TTO that he got as a teenager and never saw a reason to switch. He was happy to hear of our hobby, but he's staying put.

    Andrew:
I’d probably still be shaving with that Schick Krona razor if it hadn’t broken. The only cartridge shaver I ever tried was the Omnishaver for my head. It was admittedly very fast, but I ended up with terrible ingrown hairs on the back of my neck. Learned my lesson.

    Good afternoon guys!

    Shavette shave #178
    Parker SRB
Van der Hagen 1/2 DE Blade (1)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
CF Cryogen SS (First Puck) and AS

It's 90+ degrees on Long Island. I decided to cool down with another Cryogen shave. I really didn't need to shave my 26 hr stubble, but I will be at service this evening so I want to be clean-shaven.
Yesterday, I was rummaging through my counter drawers and found a VdH 1/2 blade. I thought that I had used them all and never have to worry about them again. Well, Jack Ncholson's line, "I am back!" came to mind when I saw this blade. I am not one to waste a blade so I set it in the Parker to use it for today's shave. I have used VDH blades in my Dovo shavette and got decent shaves, but this is the first time using one in this razor. Just like yesterday, I wet my face with the brush and then did a one light swirl of the gelatinous mess of a soap. I got a nice, wet lather with very little effort. The trick is to really prep the beard with lots of water (face is dripping wet) to be able to lather this soap without problems.
Did 2 passes and got an IBSS shave because I didn't want to push irritation due to have little beard growth. Did get a tiny mustache weep and one on my lower neck. Cold water took care of the neck, but I needed pencil on my stache. I think it was a combo of a new blade and starting with short growth that gave me weeps. I say that because it usually has been my history and that is why I rarely shave a beard with less then 30 hrs growth. I still had enough soap to paint my face a third time to feel that awesome, intense feeling of this ūber mentholated soap. Washed it off and I have to say that it was really cold! Finished with a double dose of the CF Cryogen AS for more of that high kickin' experience. Have a nice day guys.

I used electric razors as my primary razors off and on. I found they work best for me as a touch up razor in the evening or right before a big event.

Thank you Andrew. It was a good morning and early afternoon running errands. I really like those lazy Sunday mornings where I have some time to relax with coffee and such before the house wakes up.
