I’m trying to imagine the shave lineup. Nice results for a quick shave, Joseph!

My Merkur Slant would be a two piece in that aspect. The inner barrel stays put inside.

Nice shave, Joe! I’ll sometimes do like you and apply a final lather just to sit on my face while cleaning out my brush. Not sure of the benefit, if any, but I enjoy it.

Awesome shave, Joe! Are you able to mold the gelatinous soap into a shape that will hold? Or is it just a blob-like mess?

that's correct, just like the merkur 34c/hd.the merkurs will come apart for servicing if needed.they have a clip inside holding the parts together.the gillettes are crimped..

Thanks Andrew! I probably could, but there isn't that much left to warrant it. I did a trial run with the new puck of Cryogen. I used the same new technique, but used my Semogue OC Super Badger Brush. I drenched my face with the brush so that I looked like a drowned rat. Lol! Got all the excess water out of the brush and lightly dotted the soap maybe 2x with the brush tips. I have to say that I got 3 passes of lather! Now, it wasn't luxurious, but it was enough to be able to shave. I believe if I do this everytime with this new puck of Cryogen, then I will have very minimal amount of water to make another gelatinous mess and also make the soap last a lot longer. I will be using the new puck on my Friday Fantastic shave. I will dot the soap 3x instead of 2 to give me more lather. I have decided to use my second largest straight. It will be my vintage Wostenholm 15/16 near wedge. I bought it last year and I have hardly used it so it's about time that I bring her out.

    Thank you, Blair!
My routine is fairly basic anyway. I don't do pre-shave, or the hot towel treatment, etc. I load up some soap, face lather and shave. Most days a fairly relaxed approach for lathering and shaving is taken. On days where time is of the essence, the "speed dial" gets turned up a bit.

Most days after the shave itself, the remaining lather in the brush gets put on the face for a few minutes. Sometimes aftershave is used, sometimes not. That's not dependent on time saving, since it takes all of ten seconds to open a bottle and splash some on. It's just whether I feel like it or not. Many soaps have such great post-shave properties on their own.

As I mentioned in a post the other day, cart razors and goo worked fine for me. Getting into traditional shaving was more of a curiosity, and about learning a new skill for me. I'm glad that making the switch proved beneficial for your shaves, though. It seems that lots of guys didn't get along well with carts.

    July 23rd
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blade: Kai Stainless (1)
    Brush: Grizzly Bay Veratrum
    Pre-shave: PAA Rabid Banana Cube
    Soap: PAA Et Tu
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: PAA Et Tu

    Good morning!

Super shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Light tickle from the alum.

Went with a Kai blade in the AS-D2 this morning. I felt there was a bit more blade feel and maybe a slightly bigger sweet spot. Not a huge difference and it could be my imagination but an awesome shave nonetheless.

    Have a great day!
