From the biggest to the smallest. The Saturday blade from this 4 day set provided a clear contrast to yesterday’s 9/8 shave. I normally shave every other day but shaved today to avoid some busy days next week. The 9/16 Lund seems better suited to one day of growth and gave me a chance to compare a narrower blade to a wide blade. Two take-aways: An edge is still an edge and you can get a great shave regardless of the size. Second, I actually prefer the heavy, wide blade for the upper lip. The ATG pass is much easier as it plows through that tough stubble easier and doesn’t catch or skip as much as a lighter blade. A wonderful shave to start the weekend. Sticking with ERN but going big, not Karl’s W&B big, but big for an ERN. C. Friedr ERN 15 1/4 ERN has history dating back to the 1870’s, they have to hold the record for the amount of trademarked brands, and they introduced the Hexe machine to hollow grind razors... makes it a fun brand to collect. This is a full 8/8 razor and very heavy. Not exactly sure why the 1/4 was added to the model number. I’ve seen an ERN 15 with the same 8/8 width, but it was a full hollow. Maybe the 1/4 was for the heavier grind. I did take liberties with modifying the point. It had a weird cross between a barber’s notch and Spanish point, but it just looked awkward. It had also been put away wet for a long period of time, so I used that as an excuse to grind away and create this profile: It works for me, and it took a wonderful edge. Enjoy your shave. Tom

Added another ERN into the rotation... MOP tang with some bone scales. I think the model says 120, but the reverse tang is very hard to make out. Enjoy your shave. Tom
I was testing out two finishes on an an edge. Ryan from Shave Armory honed both of these razors. One finishing on the Naniwa 12k he has always done for me. The other was a jnat finish. I wanted to see if after a year of shaving I still liked the 12k finish more than others. The rules I gave Ryan. 1. 12k on on Jnat on the other. 2. Dont tell me which is which. I wanted to compair blindly. Now before you start in I know its 2 different razors and there can be variances in the edge. What I am able to do is judge just how smooth the edge is and discard every other variance. What I found was very interesting to me. The 2 places that I get razor burn the easiest is jaw line and neck going ATG. Well the Star was smoother on my neck but the TSC was smoother on my jaw line. The other thing I found interesting is I have gotten a memory for the 12k Naniwa. I was able to tell the difference between the two edges. Shave #146 with the Sub Cero, but that’s not the interesting news today. Floris has reformulated their hard soaps, and they actually lather easily and well now. No blooming needed. The scents were always great, but the previous formula just was not satisfactory. Double thumbs up to the ladies and gentlemen at 89 Jermyn Street! Scents are medium strength, post shave is good (shea butter), and both Elite and 89 are available.
This Fritz Bracht DOVO is a close cousin to my Wonderedge. They both are in need of a slight refresh with a nearly equal number of shaves. Nice shave nonetheless. I’m probably going to part with the Wonderedge as it’s pretty much the same and I need room for some new razors headed my way.
