Y'know, that's what many said about Rise....leaves a white film on the razor. Maybe it's me, but I just said to myself "All right, I'll just spend a little extra time rinsing it off".

Ive had some fantastic shaves over the last two weeks, used the uncle Jon's pipe smoke for three shaves followed by bundubeard coffee which is now my favourite soap overall, it performs amazingly with the omega 49, especially when face lathering.

I also have two new (for me)bundubeard soaps arriving in a mail call soon, so I'll definitely write a review on those!

Another hot day forecasted for LI. I managed to get a workout in before the heat really begins to crank it up.

I went with my usual three pass shave as I head done the homestretch of the JustOneJuly theme. I am looking forward to Saturday when I can add some variety back in my shaves. Although I have a feeling that this soap only has two or three more shaves in it. So I may be ending JustOneJuly a day or two early.

I used the Schick Proline P-30 in the razor this morning. I did manage one weeper which the alum easily took care of. The weeper was a result of user error. My face feels smooth and the missus loves the scent.

Just to prove I can still navigate the Dark Side with the best of them.

Let's call it a clone of Cella.
Fairly soft, but after a few days in the tub, it firmed up enough to load directly.
Indeed, it morphed into a very nice lather:

The W&B cooperated and so did my hands, allowing three passes for what passes as a DFS.
Not-pictured is the Thayer's Medicated Witch Hazel, another generous offering from @timabababaluka

Joseph, perhaps you can help me solve the Aqua Velva mystery. That bottle looks like a more "old-school" one than what we see today. What is your best guess of when AV originated as an aftershave? (Course this would help me on my "Throwback Thursday" shaves....yeah, I know, there's always something in it for me lol).

 

I also have a rescue (mutt). If you aren't looking for something specific in a dog, it's the kindest way to repay the species for their loyalty I think.

 

I agree David. Mocha is over 14 years old with declining health. My next dog will most likely be a rescue of some sort.

Rex Ambassador ramp up experiment home stretch

Now trying adjustments between passes.
3/1.75/.75
3 passes and OK for some buffing style on final.

Most consistently close since my 3 pass @2.5, hopefully sans the increasing irritation.of 2.5's shave. Head BBS+, face BBS, neck BBS-(as good as it gets).
tomorrow's shave am trying 3.5/2/ then and .5 using residual slickness(water) or thayers only. Expecting trouble on the 3.5. Past that 4-6 I've never noticed much difference on a then aggressive razor. 3.5 will be tops for me.

Unrelated question:
I often see people write about BBS shave using X and then say it lasted longer 12 hours, even 24 hours. Is that actually possible?
In my mind the speed of hair growth might be affected by sleep, what you ate, what you did, and not what you shaved with. Starting from BBS whether it be from a straight razor. slant or a sharpened butter knife would be the same.
