    Old Spice in a lighthouse
    Another thread asked about how many passes the old guys made years ago. While my shave today no way answers his question. I was inspired to use the HD, old spice and my Parker badger. I made a three pass shave leaving me sticky smooth and smelling like my gramps. Very nice endeavor.

    Brush: WCS Beacon Silvertip Badger
    Pre-shave: Proraso Green Tea and Oat
    Soap/Cream: TOBS Tobacco Leaf
    AS: Nivea Cooling Post Shave Balm

    First shave with Tobacco Leaf. Great scent and lather.

    I was testing out two finishes on an an edge. Ryan from Shave Armory honed both of these razors. One finishing on the Naniwa 12k he has always done for me. The other was a jnat finish. I wanted to see if after a year of shaving I still liked the 12k finish more than others. The rules I gave Ryan. 1. 12k on on Jnat on the other. 2. Dont tell me which is which. I wanted to compair blindly. Now before you start in I know its 2 different razors and there can be variances in the edge. What I am able to do is judge just how smooth the edge is and discard every other variance.


    What I found was very interesting to me. The 2 places that I get razor burn the easiest is jaw line and neck going ATG. Well the Star was smoother on my neck but the TSC was smoother on my jaw line. The other thing I found interesting is I have gotten a memory for the 12k Naniwa. I was able to tell the difference between the two edges.


    Razors - Star Reito 6/8" and TSC 6/8"


    Strop - 3" latigo w/ flax linen


    Brush - @Bad Badger w/ Maggards 26mm 2band


    Soap - Stirling Haverford


    Balm - Crowne & Crane Tobacco Amber

    Razor was adjusted to it's least aggressive setting. Mild but super efficient. This is one of my favorite DE razors for the design and performance. Like most French made vintage razors it is in a class all by itself.

    Interesting how the design was modified over time. The 7 fat tooth head like yours shows up in the later '37 patent which flips the bottom plate a la the Caged Head.

    Shaving recipe for today.

    Prep: Warm shower / Sanex Men ~ Sensitive Soap Free Shower Body & Face Gel.

    Pre:
    Cold wet flannel to my face.
    Pears ~ Transparent Soap Bar / Nuage Menthol Shaving Oil.
    Brush : Semogue 1470.
    Bowl Lather.
    Earthenware soap bowl.
    Lather : Omega ~ Eucalyptus Shaving Cream.
    Blade: Gillette ~ 'NOS 94' Super Silver Platinum. (3)
    Razor: Muhle R89.

    Post:
    Cold Water Face Rinse./Homemade lavender eucalyptus, +Tea Tree essential Oils Witch Hazel Mixture./ Floid ~ Mentolado Vigoroso ASL.
    Creightons ~ Sensitive PSB.
    My face is feeling Cool & super smooth.;)
