When I posted the Cooper over on B&B my initial caption said "For your viewing pleasure, MonoBilt Cooper, and next an Eclipse Red Ring."

I changed it just before I posted because I remembered that the baseplate on those is Zamac.

Thanks. I was able to modify my existing slant design to look more like a Darwin.

I think my earlier post got lost in the reaction posts, so one more time...

Just out of curiosity, If I had a metal stamp made that said "F&W," would you guys want me to stamp the underside of the baseplate? I could fill in the letters with clear epoxy, so there wouldn't be any corrosion issues if the stamping compromised the plating. The stamp would be completely optional, and there would be no extra charge for doing so. I figure if people are going to get their dander up over "wanton destruction" I might as well give them something else to kvetch about.

Hey, it's all about building the brand profile of "The Wanton Destruction Slant Razor Co."

Thought about it. I'm too cheap to buy a bunch of number stamps just to stroke my own ego.

Y'all are just going to have to settle for Post-It© notes of authenticity.

The Cooper MonoBilt is not exactly a success story. It provided zero blade feel at any angle. Dropped it down from a one pass shaver to a two pass shaver. That was with an Astra. I'll try it again tomorrow with a Feather.

It was also kind of a pain to sort out after bending. The two end guide loops didn't bend with the razor cap, so they had to be adjusted to the right geometry and for blade tab clearance. The handle was difficult to tighten fully, but once I did, the TTO mechanism operated smoothly and without any fuss. Overall, initial impressions are that this process did not improve this razor, and in fact degraded it. It went from being a moderately aggressive razor to Tech levels of aggression, which is to say, pretty mild.

On the plus side, it is a TTO slant, which makes it rather unique, and it will be the only one. I don't plan on making any more MonoBilt slants.

Edit: I think I mentioned earlier that it was sticking when I opened and closed it? That was because the handle was not screwed in all the way.

Love the idea of branding, whether with initials or with wanton destruction.
Now to slantify a 1st gen aristocrat to make the worlds first tto slant.

This is a fascinating thread. Keep it up and I’ll send over one of my vintage Gillettes so you can do the twist for me! Just don’t tell those guys over at B&B.

I like the sentiment, and as an owner of both the American and Brit first generation TTO aristocrats... I find your idea appalling. I guess I share a bit of the nay sayers revulsion, just with different razors.

And besides, I've already made a TTO slant.
