The Service set was advertised in 1941, it's was seemingly similar in concept to the ww1 service sets (available for civilian purchase, not military issue).
Guess remaining stock was used up with Techs.

Here is an interesting knigit on later model English techs. Looks like at some point probably in the 70s they unified the handles for American and British made Tech razors.

If you look at the earlier British Tech handles of the same style they don't have that ball end on them on like US made ones did when they switched to that style in 1968.

If you mean the US stuff, when I researched it out the year I saw techs with the older nickel ball end style handles and newer aluminum ones was 68. Nothing anything earlier than that year. I want to say they could have been mismatches but I've seen too many of them now dated to 68.

I mean the US/South American ball end with cross hatch patter, could be 1968, the earliest I saw was 1969.

this is a p-2 1970 u.s tech.one of the last ones made in the u.s.most i could find in these last years are travel sets with the stubby ball end handle.found this one with it's original aluminum spiral ball end handle.i believe the last year was 1972?.they were continued to be made in england until the early eighties, with this handle in the mid to late 70s onward..[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I-3 1962 stamped european tech set 20200917_153635_edited.jpg has full later model cap and base plate .the french set has the transition cap and early post war design base plate.this could be 1960/61..neither cap will work with the opposing base plate. tech1.jpg tech2.jpg

A few minor flea bites, but no brassing; actually I'd give it a an 8.5 - 9 out of 10.
