I thought it would be nice to start a central thread to include all acquired brushes. That will not take away from newly created, or older threads, that people want to start. It will just make it easy to scan through a central thread on newly acquired brushes..
C-MON "A-4" Made in Germany All aluminum hollow handle. This one arrived today, and needs some restoration. I don't know if the knot can be saved, But I will try. This is a pretty old brush.
It polished up nicely. The knot is in good shape, and after a good washing, its not shedding at all. But, its the floppiest brush I've ever encountered. I played around with it, quite a bit. Also used it for a shave. But, it flops around, like a floor mop. Time for a knot change. Too bad, because it sheds less than some modern made brushes. I might try shortening the length.
The handle's in great shape, usually the bottom gets rather beat up. If you do replace the knot, I'd put a little epoxy in the bottom to strengthen it (coating the walls), that's if it happens to be the thin walled varieties.
Good idea. It is the thin walled variety. For $15, and no major dings, i figure it might be good for experimenting on. I'm soaking the knot in Oxy Clean right now. To possibly lighten the bristles. If that doesnt work, I will use some Revlon hair stuff, to make blonde hair. If either of these work, i will cut the knot down, by 1/2 inch, to see if it stiffens up a little. .
Ever-Ready C-40 Boar I lucked into this NOS brush, on Ebay. It came with three packs of Vintage Wilkinson Sword Super Sword blades, and a pack of unused Vintage Treet SE blades. All for $11.05. I can't decide if I want to use the brush, or keep it NOS. I have plenty of brushes already. Any idea how old it is?? I'm not too up, on brush ages.
Just received my first Paladin. Samurai 26mm in Vintage Port stock. Pictures don't do this brush justice. It is stunning! Sent from my SM-G981U1 using Tapatalk
I need to use it. But, being NOS, I might keep it that way, for a while. I have so many more brushes to use.
