Today I shaved with a straight I haven’t used before. It’s a NOS A. Witte complete with an enclosed note saying “honed by Henrey 1939”. I swapped a brand new EJ89 I’d purchased as a gift for my 15 yr old grandson which he had returned to me for it. Despite the note, Ben reset the bevel with his honing toys. It shaved beautifully, with the usual results, VBBS above the jawline and DFS on the neck. My Type I Hydromagic Injector cleaned up the neck and delivered a good clean VBBS to the noggin. All in all an excellent way to start the day! I feel refreshed, cool, clean and acceptably velveteen!

RAZOR: A. Witte Copperhead 6/8 (Mug), Hydromagic Type I Injector (Dome)
    BLADE: Schick B-20 Proline
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Rabid Banana Preshave Cube
    BRUSH: Rooney Ebony Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat w/ 6 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm.

Real nice shave this morning. I bloomed the soap a little too much though. Let's see how it is the next time I use it. It's hard to describe the scent of this Down At The River, from Central Texas Soaps. I'd say, picture yourself taking in the lovely scenery of a Texas river, perhaps doing some fishing. The water of the river is always warm-uh mean we're talkin' Texas after all. Anyway, the usual ultra-moistness(for me anyway)showed during pass 1. I should back up a bit to say that due to the overblooming, my usual 30 seconds of swirling brought quite a bit of moisture to the soap. Yet I covered all the bases needed. Second pass drier again. Porcupine Alley looked very good after each pass, as did Cactus Nation. The rest did, as well. No cuts/Knicks/weepers. The only thing I should have done to improve the shave some was to add some Stoylin Frost Drops, yet I figured by closing with Aqua Velva, perhaps I didn't need to. Was very pleased overall. Top Of The World Excellent.
