Thank you Joe...I did like the shave itself, however I didn't like that later the warmth of the water for the shave overpowered the glacials. Thus it was a shave that taught me new strategies for further shaves.

My "Throwback Thursday" shave was fine. Unlike yesterday, I used lukewarm water from the tap. Good spreading from the Foamy can. While I killed off a high pct. of "astroturf" on the one pass I was doing, I did need to do a few touchups. But having said that, I completely missed an area(something I didn't notice until the shave was "done". I'll get that area tomorrow. No cuts or Knicks. Cactus Nation went well again. For the aftershave, I shook the Osage bottle more than in past uses. That moved more "crystals" up from the bottom of the bottle. But as I was applying the Osage Rub, I thought about something: As we recall, I was a little upset that my face felt warm after yesterday's shave, whereas I thought the two Stoylin Glacials would prevent that. I got to thinking-Glacial on top of Glacial cancels each other out, which led to the warmth. Today, Neither the shave foam or aftershave was a "Glacial" and for now anyway, my face and neck don't feel as warm. Course the lukewarmth of the water could be a difference whereas yesterday I had the hot water. I want to keep testing this theory, by switching off from the other day. What do I mean. I'll use the Stoylin E.S. Glacial soap with something like Mennen Skin Bracer or Aqua Velva....and then(for a different shave) a casual soap with the Stoylin Glacial Lime-actually I already HAVE worked with this latter combo, but it was with warm/hot tap water. Ongoing investigation here. If you fellas think I'm rambling here...well, "you might not be wrong" :). I'll give today's shave a Most Excellent.

SOTD THURSDAY MORNING, AUGUST 13, 2020

Excellent shave today! VBBS above the jawline with a DFS below. My son presented me with a 1000 grit Chosera stone for bevel setting, which he assured me I probably wouldn’t need and a 320 grit diamond plate along with something called a jasper stone for finishing. He could probably open a sharpening supplies store given the jnats and coticules in his forge/workshop. My honing lessons begin when the two vintage straight razors arrive. It was inevitable! (Sigh!) He says I can use the jasper stone to touch up my current straights.

The Karve, a superb safety razor I should use more, made short work of the neck stubble, and sheared the dome stubble away with one good ATG pass followed by some selective buffing. I've found myself reaching for this Rooney brush every morning. It’s nowhere near the quality of their well-known Silvertip brushes, but it possesses a certain scritchy quality combined with a softness and backbone that just feels great on my shave surfaces. I’m really enjoying using it. This morning’s shave left me cool, clean and velveteen, just the way I like! I hope everyone has a great day!

RAZOR: Dovo Special (Mug), Karve E_OC Plate (Dome)
    BLADE: Polsilver (2)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Rabid Banana Preshave Cube
    BRUSH: Rooney Ebony Pure Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat w/ 6 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

Great shave, Jeff. Regarding the brush, these are pretty personal like aftershaves. It only matters what you like to use.

    Tallow + Steel Kyoto~~Simpson Emperor 3~~Pre-War Canadian Tech/Sharp Star
Day 3 of the T+S focus.
Up this morning was my most anticipated soap, Kyoto.
    Fascinating description from the website:

    Screen Shot 2020-08-13 at 10.46.44.png
I am enjoying a cup of green tea as I compose this post.
Here is the breakdown of Japanese ingredients:

    Screen Shot 2020-08-13 at 10.46.55.png
I'll bet most of us here, myself included have not heard of most of these ingredients.
When I think of Nori, I naturally think of Sushi. :eatdrink020:
Anyway, I won't list the soap ingredients, as they are the same as the past two shaves.
The scent on the puck is tingly to the nostrils and when lathering really opens up.
It reminds me of Lichee fruit, which always surprises me when I taste it.
I face lathered today and the Emperor 3 was loving this soap.
I needed sunglasses the shine emanating from the lather was so intense.

Of my three Tech razors, I am about to pass judgement.
The Pre-War Canadian Tech "seems" to give me the best shave.
Now, Primo knows full-well that it's the blade that shaves you NOT the razor,
so perhaps it's the gap on the Tech that affords an easy shave.

What a post-shave! I ALMOST went without an aftershave, it was that good.
Choosing the aftershave was a challenge. I didn't really want to make the obvious
    citrus choice, i.e. AdP Colonia.
I didn't want something heavy that would clash with the bright, fruity Yuzu.
    So...the answer was obvious.
    THE VEG.
