Well this was an interesting shave I had this morning. For the temperature drop this week-end, I brought out Central Texas Soaps' Grandpa's Barbershop. I stuck with Osage Rub for the aftershave. My face and Porcupine Alley North looked good. Then I had a cut and 2 Knicks at Porcupine Alley South(chin, essentially). This was all during the first pass. As I said a few days ago, it really bothers me to get a cut on the first pass, as it means I have to spend the entire rest of the shave focusing on 2 thing-the shave itself, and making sure the cut doesn't get worse. Thankfully, Cactus Nation went nice and smooth. And now here's what made the shave "interesting": After applying the Osage Rub to finish, the Osage scent took control, and you forget that you had the nice soap scent. Now, as I type, the Grandpa's Barbershop soap is gaining strength, which means there's almost a perfect blend of the two products. I'm not sure I like that-best to be one or the other.(although it is true that both the Grandpa's Barbershop soap and Osage A.S. are barbershop-type scents). By the way, the Osage Rub cleaned off the blood on the chin. Is that why they call it "Rub"? While the rest of the shave went well, I must take the comment down 3 notches(for the 2 Knicks and the cut):Very Excellent.

good morning gents, bright sunny morning so far, hotter temps predicted..wasted no time to get the shave on and try out the new gadgetry..unwrapped a new suneko blade,a generous friend here ,our Jeff @jgreenepa sent me some in a yellow tuck, awesome sharp ,long lasting blades.it's still in rotation after 5 uses.these new blades are in a dark chrome tuck, double wrapped and still have the diamonds on the inner wrap.
beautiful slick baume.be lather first try built by the razorock barrel 24 finest badger brush..thank you joseph @Primotenore for the enabl..err fine tip..;)..i was almost out of soaps..
loaded the suneko into what could be called the first aristocrat jr,the popular.these brit built beauties were made for 3 years and are a thin handled version of the oc aristocrat, just like the post war aristocrat jrs.this 1939 version had the ornate handle like the 'crat, where as earlier versions had the more "superspeed/ranger" patterned handle.production ended when the war started ..
anyhoo, blade loaded,a fabulous 2+ ensued,no drama.blade was smooth and sharp.will see how long it lasts.if it hits 5 then they are as good as the yellow tuck version.some have said production of these blades ceased as everyone knows, long lasting blades don't generate revenue.the new blades have some pretty expensive type packaging so could be the same blade,or a fancy gimmick to sell cheaper blades.either way they are tough to find.this 100 pack came from a barber supply in london england.that could be the hint there.barbers don't need blades that last many shaves..
finished the shave with some twisted thayers and adg profumo edt..awesome shave..have a fine day everyone..

both blades are called platinum coated super stainless but the blades are marked differently..

Stepping on dog pee is not fun and it could have been worse! Rebounding from the canine calamity to get a wonderful shave was outstanding! Bravo Maestro!

Great shave, Maestro! Old Spice Lime is one of my favorites! Great stuff! Much brighter and more efforvescent than that stinky Tabac you like. :p

You're using a safety razor so your technique must be off for you to get consistent nicks Paul. Why do you think that is?

I'd say too much pressure in the more sensitive areas. Controlling pressure and angles(when I tried DE a few times)are so tricky for me. Don't know why. Pressure control will be another "mid-month" focus. Oh man, I forgot the other one I listed. Short-term memory issues may be coming. (Unless the "other" focus was the same thing).

Well, I am back to my shaving routine. Didn't shave yesterday so that I have a heavier stubble to mow. Used the wet technique to face-lather and I produced a marvelous, creamy, slick lather. With a brand new blade, I took my time to get a great BBS- shave without any blood or irritation making a grand appearance. Double portion of the aftershave gave me a nice burn. Well, the weather is nice so I am going to enjoy it. You have a great days guys! 20200814_213017.jpg
