Thank you Joe. I am aware of the limitations of powder coated parts and their chemical limits. I have used them for decades on motorcycles. Those parts have been subjected to far more abuse than a shaving tin will be expected to survive over a year a year or so.

Drive by thought as I’m reading along....

Do the nicks and cuts happen as you make a shave stroke, or as you start a shave stroke?

My bad habits from cart blades were that I sometimes landed the cart, and then started moving the razor. Usually was no big deal with a cart.

Absolutely cannot, for me, manage that with any safety razor, and never with a open razor. The blade must be moving in the stroke direction as it lands or skims, softly but purposely. Otherwise it’s nick/cut city. Most of what I report now, is usually a skin blemish I didn’t notice during the preshave scrub, or every now and then a blade land (and stick) issue.

Hope that helps (and is explained enough).

I feel that. I've Been getting more nicks and cuts lately more than I usually do. My trouble spots used to be right under my jaw line towards the very top on my neck/throat. As well on my chin. Now my trouble spots tend to be on my mustache area. I guess the skin is thinner there and more prone to being cut. It's pretty annoying sometimes not going to lie.

    SUNDAY AUGUST 16 2020
going for some J hook passes around the upper part of my neck, that has been a "hard to reach" spot for me lately. normally I do 3 passes but I will be doing a 2 pass system for today. My parents hate the smell of Vintage os but I'm still a fan and quite frankly always will IMG_20200815_224212.jpg

    Proud/Happy Father moment tonight! :)
My son, Ethan, performed his first traditional wet shave on his own (without me supervising to walk him through the steps). I was tired of looking at his caterpillar moustache and chin whiskers, so tonight I told him to take his butt into his bathroom and get a shower and a shave. About 45 minutes later he walked into the living room, clean and freshly shaved. No cuts or nicks either. I asked him some of the obligatory questions and all seemed to have gone just as I had taught him. He did a 2 pass face lather shave with some touch ups. Final question was: did he clean up his station? He said he did and so a few minutes later, I went into his bathroom to verify. Well, he told the truth. There was no mess and all was in clean order. I didn't see the blade in the razor though and didn't see it in the trash can either. So I asked him where it was and he had put it back into the wax paper and back inside the box... I told him that was not technically bad form, but from now on, just leave the blade in the razor for a good 3-4 shaves and then put it in the old empty prescription bottle to dispose. I guess I forgot to explain that final detail of the shave.

Nice shave, Myles. J-Hooks work wonders sometimes in those trouble areas.
