  1. Honing is the next step I need to learn. That is the goal for me during the Fall.

  2. i will say,and i hope i don't get struck by lightning..i got less nicks and cuts with a 3 blade gillette mach 3 than i did with a 2 blade cart..but i got ingrown hairs from them..you may not.if loading blades are a problem for you the mach 3 was the best of the carts imo..the extra blade kept the head flatter on the face maybe..

  4. No, I like the pivoting head. I always thought it would be a helper, not a problem. Maybe it's just me, applying too much pressure as I progress along(as others have suggested).

  5. I have a look at that one. How many shaves can you get with that before another blade has to be loaded?

  6. Thank you, Jeff! I'm glad I was able to mentor him for this life skill.
For several years in the past, I traveled out of town for work at least a 7-10 days per month, but that is just not possible now.

The shave mentor process for my daughter has been a bit different. She's watched me shave so many times that she understood the process. But, I'm no expert on shaving legs/armpits. So, she has learned that part mostly on her own. She's only 11 but has already started. She didn't like using the 1974 Lady Gillette I bought her or the brush; so she insists on the pink disposable razors and EOS brushless shaving cream. Grandma (my Mom) is going to have to give her any tips on the intricacies of leg shaving.

  7. i would try a 3 blade gillette mach 3 ,it lands flatter on the face, light pressure..less set down issues..

  8. Great shave with another of your beautiful Gillettes, Gary! Is this shave #10? I have a Suneko that has delivered 10 flawless head shaves! We’ll see how it lasts, but thus far it seems to measure up to my Personna 74s. The best I’ve done on the Personna was was 12 shaves before it began to tug. They were combined head and face shaves, so in fairness we’re probably talking 20 regular face shaves.

  9. i shaved twice a week in those days, but one would last at least 5 shaves, but i took them for more..i always clogged them up,but if you shave daily they shouldn't be a problem..they have got somewhat cheaper these days..and they are still in production..

  12. I do find myself rinsing soap out more to avoid major clogging. Don't mind that "extra" work.

The first time I heard the pasta sauce referred to as "gravy" was while watching The Sopranos (I loved that show!). I still call it sauce, but I look over my shoulder just in case Tony is there to wack me... :D

  18. That's the trick. Learn to do unlimited push ups and sit ups as well. The Drill Sgts like to have the group do physical exercises for individual mistakes. It is rough to start. Things get much better when the sick, lame and lazy wash out and you are left with only those that really want to be there. I found the trick is not to overthink things. Don't worry about what happens next. Just handle the challenges as they come. Our Chaplin gave us the best piece of advice I have received in my lifetime. "The rewards don't go to the smartest, quickest or the strongest. The rewards go to the poor SOB that's too stupid to quit." I have found this to be so very true. Most people will quit on themself when the reward is just around the corner. Hang tough Myles and go get what you want. It is there waiting for you to take it.
  19. The last disposable I was using before I made the switch was the Schick Extreme 3 (or usually it's generic store brand equivalent). I didn't get cuts, but I did get ingrown hairs on the neck.
