    Nice, David!
    I did my first Rule with the ATT S1. By the end of the month I was getting irritation free shaves but they weren't very close. I did another Rule with it focusing on skin stretching and angle control throughout each stroke. I learned a whole lot about technique that month that I'm still using today.

    Congrats on the Tabac! I'll be using it for the first time tomorrow.

    Have you tried the S2 plate? It is more efficient. S1 is pretty mild, but some times that's called for as I shave daily, and occasionally twice in a day if switching AM-PM or vice versa.

    I haven't tried the S2 plate. It's been awhile since I've visited the Above the Tie website. I have read that they are making changes.

    I think their newer designs cover the blade tabs adn they are making more affordable aluminum versions of many of their razors .
    Watch their returned items page and watch for a returned S2 plate for mcuh less, if you are interested. I use the S2 plate most days, and the S1 next day only if I have any raw feeling at the end of a shave or it's the second shave in a day.

    Question:
    If I'm keeping a blade for a second day's shave (normally face+head =done), I dip the head in alcohol to hopefully prevent oxidation. Am I right?

    Fine Italian Citrus Aftershave

    I got the kids up and out of bed at 7am for the start of Virtual School today. They were all set and logged in at 8am. At 8:01am, the District's system crashed and I start getting emails from the schools saying they are having technical difficulties. Let's see how long it takes to work out the bugs in the system...

    As for the shave this morning, two and a half passes with the Gillette NEW Long Comb provided a fabulous BBS result with no irritation or mishaps. This razor is near the top of my list for DE's with regards to comfort and efficiency.

    Yes, you can prevent the oxidation for a limited time, but it's all about the edge. The edge of the DE will dull before major rust sets in on the face of the blade. Besides, why go through that hassle when DE blades are cheap. Toss and reload the razor with a new blade. If it was a straight razor, then I would use the alcohol to sanitize and clean the blade from deposits like soap scum, dirt, hair, etc. Most straights are carbon steel that easily rust so a coat of thin mineral oil will do the trick.
