My Tradere was delivered!

 

My wife and I had a good routine going before the University of Kentucky closed down housing and went online back in late March. We will get back to that routine. In some ways we are able to enjoy things now that we missed when we were first married.

The bottle neck for me recently is the Denver Distribution Center. My stuff will just sit longer than it should or will keep arriving and departing the Distribution Center over and over. Weird.

Both my Tradere and Wolfman arrived at the Atlanta distribution center at the same time. My Wolfman was delivered today.

Not quite. We are both in a better place in our careers so we can put work aside and enjoy each other’s company. Plus disposable income is much better than when the girls were younger.

My Wolfman WR-2 SB arrived today. I ordered it with a 1.05 mm blade gap along with a WRH2 Handle. I ordered the basic/textured finish polish. I was not at all sure what to expect from this finish. I thought for sure there would be tool marks. I was hoping the areas that showed would look ok.

With the stage set, now to the unboxing.










At this stage I was torn between excitement and worry over the finish. Did I wait 8 months for something I won’t like? Was I too cheap in not paying more for an upgraded finish?




I’m blown away at how freaking nice the basic finish is on the razor. No tool marks outside and only one faint area inside the top plate that I think is a smudge. Everything else is super shiny. I can only imagine what the extra $200 for a mirror polish looks like.

I know what razor I’m using tomorrow.

Long weekend.....ended up getting back late this morning instead of last night. 18 hours behind on things due to the storms rolling through while driving home, stopped short to be safe. Driving ~8 tons of a rig (truck and camper GCVW)....just isn't fun when weather is very rough, especially after a long & seriously hot working weekend.

Tradere delivery was late, USPS said Saturday, but actually received about noon today....super Blackland packaging as usual, awesome presentation when opening. Very nicely polished, fit and finish exactly what you would expect. Black etching on the bottom plate.

Simpson Chubby and AoS Oud shaving cream just a joy face lathering today, slick, great face feel, very nice aroma. I should use this tub a few more times....it's getting pretty low and could probably knock it out in a handful of shaves. Loaded the Tradere with one of my favorite DE blades, the Voskhod teflon coated. First thing to notice...it's a hefty razor, a little longer handle than I'm used to. Nicely balanced though, easy to grip, very intuitive shaving angle. I tended to ride the comb rather than ride the cap for the shave. Great blade feel, not quite as much as the Rex Ambassador (on 5-6). One thing I was very surprised with is that it gets into the bottom of the nose/top lip shadows quite easily, despite it's appearance of the head/cap being larger. Very nice! 2.5 passes, WTG, then XTG, then opposite XTG on the neck. BBS....don't find a patch of sandpaper anywhere. Couple very small neck weepers on the second pass, disappeared by the end of the shave. Quick application of PAA's Star Jelly, then a few spritzes of the AoS Oud Suede....a wifey 'Oh Yeah' favorite.
