Ariana & Evans SS & AS - Vanille de Tabac
    Blackland Tradere
    Feather Hi-Stainless Platinum Coated
    PAA Switchback 400 w/Omega EVO
    PAA ASB - Star Jelly

Second use of the Blackland Tradere. Switched to a new Feather Hi-Stainless blade to test for myself the Tradere's blade feel and handling with quite possibly one of the sharpest/edgiest blades in current production. Must say I'm very impressed. The Tradere tames this blade quite well. Possibly perfection. No set down gotcha's, no over shaved irritation spots through 2.5 passes that I normally do. The first pass I was slightly apprehensive and concentrated for soft landing set downs and strokes with negative pressure to just skim the skin/lather junction. DFS+ result on the first pass. The second pass and following neck clean up I shaved on autopilot, not really concentrating on set down or pressure. I wouldn't say I was trying to achieve a set down or pressure mistake, but to me it sure felt like it'd be hard to do. BBS as a final result, no weepers, nicks or cuts. Awesome. Super fun bowl lather from the EVO knot along with A&E's shave soap. Quick squirt of PAA Star Jelly followed with the matching wonderful tobacco vanilla AS aroma.

Quite happy with another ergonomic of the Tradere. The top cap ends are curved inward and have 3 grooves for easy grip (as you can see in my image). The base plate and top cap design also covers the DE blade ends. These two little design attributes make blade loading/tightning/unloading very easy and confident with slippery fingers. Genius.

Hope everyone has an awesome Tuesday!

Well, look what the cat dragged in.
I guess it was about 5 weeks ago or so that I dropped out from daily contact with my friends on here. A few of you reached out to me and thank you for that. I have been shaving regularly, especially since my vacation time was cut short and I returned to work a few weeks ago. Not complaining, it is just the way it is. I do plan on just jumping back in, so hopefully I can get back up to speed pretty quickly.
I finished off the July Emperor focus with Italian soaps and boars and have been using some other faves for the 'gold standard' this month.
Today was a favourite Tobacco Tuesday software combo. Everything worked as it should and I was quite smooth early this morning.
    Have a great day all!

Thanks, Joe! I’m still anxious while Straight shaving, but discovered with this Tanifuji, after Ben got done with it, that not all razors tug during a shave. This danged Japanese “shaving sword” - apparently after the days of the Samurai many sword smiths discovered that their skills were directly transferable to straight razors - thus the name, has a funny-looking blade, but boy is that little bugger sharp! Ben keeps claiming that his Japanese razors hold an edge much longer than any of Sheffield or Solingen vintage! Go figure!

Historically, it does make sense. Henry the 8th contracted a French headsman to dispatch Ann Boleyn. Japanese Samarai swords were very efficient in doing the same job. This may be due to the craftsmanship and steel of the Japanese vs the English. With that said, I do like the Sheffield and Solingen blades.

Great shave, Joe! I own more boar than Badger brushes! I think if I had my druthers, I’d happily lather with a boar for the rest of my days, although some of the newer synths are pretty good also. Enjoy your day
