My X-brother-in-law got me a Grey Flannel for Christmas once....Back then I was hardly the shave freak I am today. As it was a cologne only, I don't recall using it much, but I did like the scent.

Gillette Toggle vs. Rex Ambassador & Gillette Platinum (2)

It was very, very good. In the end, the Rex took it to another level. Excellent blade feel with superb efficiency on setting #6 that truth be told, the Toggle could not match. Wasn’t far behind but, it lagged a couple of steps though it still hung in there until the very end. Rex in 2, Toggle 2.5 passes. Still a glorious shave. A wonderful evening and shaves to all....

Razor: Gillette Golden tech-Mfg 1940's mild razor but with a Kai blade it makes the Tech sweet spot angle magnified IMO.
Blade: KAI SS(8) still testing(.009 thousands inch wider than standard blades approx) makes for better blade feel and it sure made my Gillette Tech much more my kind of razor to enjoy. There is something about certain blades in different razors that is accurate that seasoned shavers have been telling us all over decades(just trying to find them [IMG] .)
Soap: Colonel Conk Bayrum- mild scent with excellent lather properties.Always get great results for post feel.
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow brown whiskers 26mm synthetic, great brush for creating lather and is a pleasure to use, soft tips.
Pre shave: brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser +a dollop of clear Aloe vera gel on beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 3 + pickups.(cold water is nice on a hot days)
Post Shave: Pinaud Clubman with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = [IMG]Great shave with my seldom used Gillette Golden tech with Kai SS blade to make it a sweeter mild razor.

    All new to me setup

    Razor: Schick I2
    Blade: Schick Dutch stainless
    Brush: Razorock 400
    Soap: Cella
    AS: Florida Water

So this was a shave of 3 firsts. Razor Brush and Cream

The only real unknown to me was the Cella. The Brush I could feel was very soft yet firm. I was going to have no problems using it. The Razor although I have not used the I2. I am familiar enough with Injectors to get the feel right away.

As for the Cella as I have never tried it before. I decided to read up on some threads. After reading some I decided to go with a more shall we say thicker Lather like paint. I was not going to try for a real light and super foamy Lather. As I face Lather I got the brush wet and gave it a few good shakes. I then proceeded to load the brush. I went long enough to start to have the Lather start to flow out of the container. Maybe 30 swirls.

I then began to spread over my face. Knowing it was going to be too dry. So I added bits of water until I got my consistency I wanted. Then added a bit more water. I do this to make sure it does not dry out on the 3rd Lather.
    This worked like a charm.

As for the o performance. I found the scent quite unique. I had a difficult time figuring what AS to pair with it. As I found it to be more sweet or fruity. Very hard for me to describe.
Anyhow I went with the Florida Water. I liked that choice. What do you guys find pairs well with Cella?

Anyhow the performance was really good. I like it enough that I will buy more once this is gone.

Finished with a DFS+ shave zero irritation. I will use this setup again in the future.

Excellent shave, Tom! Cella is still one I haven't tried yet, so I'm no help with pairing suggestions.

Thanks. It feels even better an hour later. I would say even BBS. I don’t chase that, but when you catch one. You never want to give it back. Looking forward to how it feels in the morning. That is a true test for me.

Hey Tommy, since I have been using straights a lot, and I am relatively new to using them, I like to keep my face a bit wetter and extra slick. I bought a mister bottle to try after watching Chris Bailey on You Tube use one. The idea is to add a thin even coat of water to enhance slickness. Mostly I shoot it over my lathered face and my hair before brushing. I think in concept, it is a good idea, but my mister has a slightly too strong spray. I still like it with cool water. It feels good on the face but a lighter mister would work better. I don't include it in most pictures because it isn't much to look at and is just a cheap plastic bottle. I like it enough that I am considering getting a mister with a lighter spray. Bottom line, I don't recommend the one I have, but a very light mist is actually good to wet the face.
    Steve
