I don't understand the badger effect on boar bristles either. I just liked this brush handle and I wanted to own a second boar brush at the time. Now I have 4.

Excellent photos and reports Joseph. I saw the thread on TSN about the updated Floris. I understand both the #89 and Limited have the updated formula. Floris is on my list but I wanted to see some honest reviews before committing.

 

H&S and Wolfman definitely has exquisite mirror polishing & detailed work based on the images y'all post up. I can't compare to those.

If I was entering or judging razors in a stainless steel polishing contest/show.....here's what I notice on my examples. Remember, I'm talking .01% differences like where I'd put a critical eye using a loupe on a print I'd hope for perfection sold to a museum or fine art customer.

The top cap on my Tradere has a slightly 'rough' spot in the dead center, on the otherwise awesome mirror finish. Nothing worth worrying over. I'm thinking it happened as vibrational wear during transit. I can buff it out easily enough in minutes between polishing pastes and a new bench buffer received this past Father's Day . Base plate and handle near flawless mirror in all the areas that show/matter, slight milky mirror in the corner spots tough to reach, would be hard pressed to show in images. Only machine marks are under the top cap, where the blade sits, still evidence of polishing though.

Comparing to my polished Blackland Dart, the Tradere's polish and depth is equal to my eye. The Blackland Vector I have, also polished, seems a slight bit muted or less depth, maybe from a different steel color causing this, but an incredible polish job as their brothers.

The only other polished stainless razor I have is the Supply Co v2....which to me is near polished mirror perfection. Looking into it's surface, the steel almost seems liquid and deep in comparison to the Blackland polished finishes.

 

Not experimenting is the hard part for me.

 

Great comparison. Like I said earlier I only paid for the basic polishing finish on the Wolfman. I can only imagine what the mirror polish that doubles the price of the razor looks like. Once I saw this Wolfman in person, I was and remain pretty sure, its finish will be better than the Tradere. Like you I can buff out any spots that show so I am not that worried. The Supply Co V2 mirror finish is just freaking awesome.

Today’s shave presented a wonderful pair of the soap and toner. CL Bon Vivant is one of my favorite post shave applications. I find most of the CL’s in my den to have a nice period of longevity. The Bon Vivant is towards the top of that list. The toner leaves my face feeling smooth and well nourished. I find myself running my head over my face periodically throughout the day.

The Jayaruh 382 boar whipped up a nice lather. I have been able to obtain wonder lathers throughout my entire Boar Month themed shaves.

The VC4 delivered a smooth three pass shave with the alum block failing to report any negative areas of the shave. To quote Paul, @Paul Turner, “This one was Super Duper Excellent.”
