Well, what can you say Billyfergie used his Yesterday and its a shame to see mine doing nothing, so it came out last night a quick touch up on the hone and used this morning and boy I forgot how good these are.

Pulled out the big 8/8 Revisor, ran it through a short course on the diamond pasted balsa progression. Thanks to a minor interruption and a major brain fade, I then started my shave without my usual final stropping on flax linen and leather.

The light dawned very shortly into my first pass. At that point I powered through two full passes to achieve a close, but very uncomfortable shave. I don't have to take the requirement to strop on leather on faith anymore. And now I fully understand that sharp and smooth don't always go together. Shave and learn.

 

Gold Dollars, testing a jnat vs a 6k Shapton Glass HC (High Carbon) synthetic. The jnat finish on M10 wins handily, but the 6k HC finishes like a more ordinary 8k. It’s an excellent idea to shave off every stone in your progression, and I had not had the spare shaves to test the 6k because of the Filly Sub Cero edge that won’t die, lol. You could shave with the 6k HC edge well enough, but if you’re on a straight razor forum, you’re probably an edge snob too, and you can do better pretty easily, but for a 6k, the Shapton Glass HC is likely as good as it gets. I’ve been using it in a Shapton Glass 2k HR + SG 6k HC + natural finisher with great success. The 2k HR is the bevel setter.

Soap was I Coloniali Mango oil and I wanted an alcohol-based splash this time so Myrsol AB performed the finish.

 

I couldn’t keep the Rigarazor off my mind so I caved and made it the shave of the day. Super clean and smooth shave
